During the first decade of 21st century and before the 2008 economic crisis, Madrid suburban areas were highly developed, and their residential capability were exploited to its maximum allowance. A strict urbanistic regulation forced new constructions to consider a percentage of ground floors to have only and exclusively commercial or office purposes, despite there was no interest or commercial activity at that time. Snøhetta and Park Associati are the winners of the competition organized by Coima for the refurbishment of the existing 1960’s office block Pirelli P35 in the heart of Milan, Italy. The proposals for the Pirelli 35 competition by the two practices perfectly interpreted the client’s brief on project’s complementary aspects. What began as an innovative parking solution inside an industrial district in the heart of downtown Portland, is now the first ground-up workspace building to be built inside the industrial sanctuary. The steel framed building is a true representation of intentional structures. The long span steel frame create open parking areas and then transforms to clear, open workspace floor plates. The architecture of the “Sanlucar Fruit” project, designed by “Sanahuja & Partners”, is conceived following ecological, sustainable, quality, and freshness values in the development of its field products. Thus, highly flexible spaces have been organized, which stand out for their high degree of comfort for both permanent users and visitors. It is a large hall where the vegetation from the vertical and horizontal gardens gains prominence. When a third organisation joined an Alliance based in the Zuidas area of Amsterdam, the current office was found wanting in terms of space and functionality. The office is generally used by a small permanent team that is always present, however, one week a month, during the joint meeting sessions, it also has to accommodate 100 to 150 people. Not only does this profile require an extremely flexible office space, ample meeting facilities for both small and very large groups are also needed. The design for the leading global advisory, broking and solutions company’s new office features various references to São Paulo’s indentity and its most iconic spots.In order to meet Willis Towers Watson’s corporate culture – which places a strong emphasis on connecting office design to the local community, landscape and culture - vibrant colours were used in all of the areas in reference to São Paulo’s iconic grafitti walls. Crossover is mixed-use to the max: this building seamlessly blends high-end offices with affordable youth housing. The challenge was to unify diverse functions and people from varied backgrounds into a dynamic, sustainable space.
