With their design for an office building on Europa-Allee, Eike Becker_Architekten won an international competition awarded by the city of Frankfurt. The aim was to create a building that would refer both to the Praedium residential tower across the street and to the Europa-Allee boulevard and surrounding Europapark district. This high-rise office building consists of two slender discs which are turned out of the axis and shifted against one another and provide a stylistic nod to the Praedium's lively design language. A stereotypical red granite office building from the 1980s. Outdated and unfashionable. This inspired us to come up with the idea of a pink dress-up a commitment to color, texture, light. We wanted to put the building back into the spotlight and achieved this with a smart design concept within its existing structure. We envisioned a curved catwalk leading into the foyer, paying homage to the world of fashion. Elegant, woven aluminum mesh curtains were introduced, reminiscent of textiles and fluidity. Lighting and shaping using lines and circles were incorporated for added dynamism and rhythm. Originally planned as a fire protection renovation, we developed a comprehensive design concept for the building extension from the 1980s, based on the existing structure of the Musterschule founded in 1803 in Frankfurt's Nordend. Thanks to a thorough examination of the available resources on-site, the result went beyond what was originally planned, using only a few and minimally invasive measures. One main component of the extensive renovation was the focus on developing a wayfinding system in the form of a new color concept. Named Leaf and Bean Co Pavilion use innovative, sustainable, and contemporary approaches to integrate nature with architecture. Through the utilization of local wood, the structure’s material pallette percolates with its background, and implement sustainable production strategies. This pavilion will feature mainly coffee shop, semi-open library, recreational areas on both the ground and terrace floor levels and host an event which was sourced from the town. Situated in the city centre of Frankfurt, between the town hall and the Main river, is the completely refurbished and newly extended Historical Museum Frankfurt. Kossmann.dejong designed three exhibitions – one temporary and two permanent – that highlight the many faces of Frankfurt. For the ‘Typically Frankfurt!’ exhibition, which connects the entrance with the new building, Kossmann.dejong designed a snow globe – one of the most ubiquitous tourist souvenirs – to start the museum experience. The station was in need of a general renovation, as part of this process the main platform was raised to allow for disabled access. The station lies between major traffic arteries, crossing the southern side of the station is the large Maybach Bridge, to the east lies a sport complex including an outdoor swimming pool. A public bus station forms the western boundary of the site; while to the west and north are a series of housing blocks. It as clear from the beginning of the design, that only a large clearly defined form would be able to produce the desired presence in a complex and confusing urban mix. This L-shaped residential development with six floors of apartments above street level stands at the junction of the relatively new urban district of Westhafen and the established Gutleutviertel district to the north. In response to this situation, the new development seeks to mediate between the distinct buildings of the new district and the late 19th/early 20th-century city-block structure of the old quarter. The generously glazed ground floor accommodates a row of shops and a café, providing a valuable function in terms of serving local shopping needs.
