Pied-à-terre
When a well-travelled, retired lawyer asked Smac Studio to create original interiorsblending serenity with character, it was a very welcome challenge. “The client wantedher home to feel timeless, feminine and elegant—but also with a bit of cool factor,” says Shona McElroy, Principal of Smac Studio.
Embracing and reflecting the lush garden was a priority, with olive green andaubergine tones specified in the brief. Originally a very dark ‘90s build facing inwards,small interventions to the layout made a big difference to how the client lives andentertains. By changing a tucked away, U-shaped corner kitchen into a centred kitchen island focus has shifted out towards the garden.

Lucky Chan utilizes local materials and traditional Indian craft techniques in a modern context
In Bangalore, India, the ground floor of a two-storey home was leased for this trendy, casual Asian restaurant. With a total area of 150 square meters, MAIA sought to use local materials and traditional Indian craft techniques in a modern context.

A 250 module wooden installation was created in collaboration with local artisans in the nearby township of Channapatna. Specialising in hand lathe woodwork and natural lacquering for over two centuries, this art form is 100% eco-friendly and handmade. Ateliers Jean Nouvel sets a cylinder of convex glass between four black granite pillars for the new Dolce & Gabbana Seoul flagship store. Located in Seoul’s main luxury retail street, the building is characterized by a continuous marble ramp that goes all the way to the roof terrace.

The Pavilion is located at Tianyi Square, Ningbo.The Pavilion covers an area of 178 square meters. The building presents an irregular geometrical form as a whole. The intention of facing the main entrance towards the entrance of the Tianyi Square is to enrich the city interface of the Square while keeping the commercial atmosphere intact.The roof ridge of the building conforms the direction from the entrance to the central axis of the Square. 17-Floor Commercial Business Center Design
Commercial buildings always tend to have very bold exteriors and highly flexible interiors, which is why this 17 floor commercial business center in the heart of Dammam, Saudi Arabia is such a qualitative success. The lobby and two stores on the ground floor are a great forefront for the parking area on the second floor, while the rest of the 15 story’s house corporate offices. The CAS design team went for a high-powered, corporate chic look for both the exterior and the interior.

Modern Granite Residential House Design
This two story villa in Basra, Iraq is quite an architectural marvel. The client has some very specific requests, including the dimensions of the room and the visuals of the exterior. The CAS team rose to the challenge by delivering a modern contemporary style villa that features quite an attractive elevation. With a focus on efficiency and practicality along with aesthetics, the materials for the elevation were chosen to be modern and suitable within the hot and sunny climatic context of the city. Furthermore, narrow windows were designed with regards to the exterior design in order to emulate a properly modern aesthetic.
