HubHub Na Příkopě 14, a unique coworking space for individuals and larger teams, is located just a few meters from the famous Wenceslas Square. HubHub offers a combination of variously sized office space, fix desks and flexi desks for smaller startups and individuals. The historic building in the center of Prague has been renovated and modern coworking offices have been established on two floors. To design addition to an already existing object is always a challenging task, above all considering newly established relations and autonomy of annex building. Moreover, with financial limitations imposed by a society in transition, which favors a “quick” design and “cheap” construction, realization of respectable building becomes a demanding task for every architect. The client lived in the United States for a long time, and was inspired by the mix-and-match of architectural and interior design styles of the country. As a result, he wanted the CAS team to capture the classic elegance of the American style in the interior design of his home. By extending at ground floor and reconfiguring the plan, a spacious and light filled minimal home was created with open plan kitchen, dining and living areas opening directly to the outside with frameless triple glazed windows and large sliding door framing the garden with views from the front door increasing the sense of space and garden connection.Industrial materials were exposed and celebrated such as black MDF for the kitchen, concrete blocks for the exposed blockwork walls and concrete floor which also reduced construction costs.
