This riverside vacation house was designed for a large family whose lives have long been connected to the water. The homeowners grew up in Ayutthaya, a province in Thailand, where rivers have historically shaped local lifestyles and seasonal living patterns. Located along the Chao Phraya River, the house serves as a gathering place for family members from different generations and lifestyles. Offroadhouse is our place to slow down, reconnect with nature, and return to ourselves. It allows us to contemplate the landscape and the changing seasons through everyday activities, transforming ordinary moments into rituals. The project was created from a used shipping container purchased from a storage yard for decommissioned containers no longer fit to sail across the seas and oceans of the world. Recycling and reusing an existing structure naturally aligned with the broader principles of the project. The raw industrial form was transformed into a compact living space immersed in nature - simple, quiet, and intentionally reduced to what is truly necessary. Situated on the outskirts of Gandhinagar, the site comprised a four-acre expanse of flat, featureless land. In the absence of significant natural landmarks or topographical variation, the design process hinged on the act of siting—placing built volumes in dynamic relation to the vast open space—and arranging programmatic parts to reinforce this relationship. The house, intended primarily for day or weekend occupancy, demanded a spatial hierarchy that foregrounded the living–dining areas as the active social core, while assigning the sleeping quarters a more contained, secondary status. Marshall House is a luxurious, contemporary holiday villa located in the Caribbean British Virgin Islands, immersed in a tropical, lush palm garden set close to a turquoise beach. The project was created for a family with two children as a holiday destination and family retreat. The site combines the traditional setting of the villa amidst the enveloping greenery and the modernity of the building itself, with large, fully-open glazing offering incredible views of the surrounding nature. In the village of Kontias, Lemnos, an old oil-mill was reconstructed and transformed into a summer holiday house. The owner architect treated the whole process with respect to both natural and artificial surroundings. Local tradition and climate were fundamental parameters to the architectural approach. The building is situated on sloping ground, before Pigados, the old entrance area of the mill, placed at the exact spot. The existing building consisted of two separate areas, covered by a two banded roof, of a total area of 90m². A small yard of 20m² was situated at the edge. When looking for somewhere to build their holiday home the decision was easy for our clients. Their heritage was strongly linked to the remote and rugged lands of the Mani Peninsula in Greece. It was the location on which they had their hearts set for a holiday retreat for their extended, multigenerational family. The summerhouse is located on a small rocky island of lake Suontee.There is an existing small fishing cabin built by previous generations in the 1960’s as well as a sauna building from the 1980’s on the island. When the fishing cabin became too small for the client, the decision was made to build a new summerhouse that would better serve island living.
