The ORGANICA building has risen on an urbanistically relaxed area of a former brownfield in Ostrava, which allowed the design of a distinctive solitaire building with striking and unusual architecture. The floor plan resembles a four-leaf propeller with an open circular atrium, enlivened by mature trees and seating combined with retail spaces, a canteen, a fitness center, and a café. Brutal minimalism in its natural form is how this project of our studio can be described. The 68 m2 apartment is located in Rostov-on-Don and is designed for a couple with two cats. Since the apartment is located above the commercial area, we had the opportunity to use the space more variably. The project finds inspiration in the kitchens of villages: those where meal preparation uses firewood and smoke, and as a result of this, the shade of the walls gets dark. And also those where there’s a smell of wet soil and the utensils are made of pewter and clay and the whole space revolves around the act of feeding the soul. The house before rebuilding had stayed in the shadow because the location that had been surrounded by many buildings had been bad. That's why the room hadn't got much sunlight, and the potted plants that had been outside had been losing their energy in the dimly-lit place. So we started designing the best places for plants with the owner who loves plants. First of all, we set up the garden on the second floor of the north side which has been the best place of getting a lot of sun and hasn't backlit.
