Live + Work - Hauserberg
The building was conceived to be a compact, accessible structure, offering a partwise office- and residential use divided into five units. The building's architecture symbolizes a ship that has been washed ashore in the urban area.
The organically shaped terraces and the spacious glazings are built in a way so they can correspond with the cardinal points. The main axis of the building is pointing south, where large window planes are placed in order to make the maximum use of the natural energy of the sun, while suffusing the interior with light. GALERIA VASCO DA GAMA 26
"The architectural design of the year 2021” award in the Restoration/Renovation category.
What is today Galeria Vasco da Gama 26 was a long-abandoned historic building in the Portuguese town centre of Ferragudo.
The rehabilitation of this untouched historical property, with its facade and character still unspoilt, was long coming for our studio, which had envisioned the concept since setting our eyes on it in 2004.
This wasn’t for us just any restoration work, but the opportunity to create simultaneously home and a multipurpose space for the community to enjoy.

Casa 103
A column of natural light as a core element turns a house into a living object.
103 house in Algarve, Portugal, depicts a different perspective.
Squeezed between two traditional neighbourhood fishermen´s houses, the limited front width led the Studio to develop the new project inwardly.
The architects have made the most of formerly adverse disposition: the sloping and irregular topography has been fully exploited in virtue of spatial colonization that allows for the extension of the different enclosed rooms beyond their indoor limits.
Several terraces climbing up the terrain stretch and enhance the visual connection of the different parts of the house and, ultimately, from the upper levels to the horizon.
