Villa Exomandria is a contemporary Cycladic retreat on the hillside of Monastiria, Antiparos — 700 square metres of built space set within 10,000 square metres of raw, sun-baked landscape, with panoramic views across the Aegean toward Sifnos and Paros.The Cyclades have one of the world's most recognisable architectural traditions: cubic white forms, thick walls, stone and lime plaster, buildings shaped by the same logic for centuries. Villa Exomandria builds on that tradition without decorating it. Raw concrete and natural stone mirror the surrounding cliffs. BAM was invited to design swing works for the Nanhai Land Art Festival, which is the largest biennale art field in mainland China directed by the famous Japanese curator Fram Kitagawa. BAM brought a pair of swings to Foshan. “Swing Up”, deconstructs and rearranges the traditional Lion Dance, playfully referencing auspicious Chinese idioms. The eyes as the main element of the piece have different shapes, referring to the different characters of the dancing lion. The lions jolly mouth reveals is wide open and playful springs sway in the wind. Reimagining Guomao Intersection is BAM’s first Urban Initiative, series of projects which address critical urban and environmental issues through design proposals where no initial client or funding exists. The proposal, which reimagined the major intersection in Beijing’s central business district, was politically disruptive and sparked public excitement, as it demonstrated the potential impact of landscape-thinking on the design of hard infrastructure in urban centers. Located in Guangzhou’s Panyu District, Panyu Middle School sits against a hillside, with woodland covering nearly one third of its roughly 78,000 m² campus. BAM has been carrying out a three-year campus planning, landscape and façade renovation with Phase I and Phase II constructed. The project consists of two elements: a dome and a ring. One forms a semi-sheltered space for gathering, the other marks entry. Their geometry is direct, but their readings builds through use. Set within faculty housing for Shanghai’s science universities, these are not symbolic objects at a distance but everyday landscape spaces. The project is a landscape renovation of Shanghai Xinzhuang TOD office area, focusing on three spaces: the main entrance garden, the café area, and the event lawn. It aims to enhance the site’s functionality and atmospheric quality through the integration of materials and space. The site is a campus with research and development facilities in three large low-rise buildings, located within the Beijing Daxing District Biomedical Industry Base. The architectural common programs are organized around a sunken plaza which includes a meeting center and the cafeteria. BAM was invited to design the campus landscape. The Finite/Infinite Garden was a collaboration between BAM and Peter Walker & Partners. The permanent garden was unveiled at the Beijing Garden Expo.  The garden is defined by a mirror corridor which creates two opposing conditions. The corridor path contains 11 plane trees, which are reflected by the ‘barbershop effect’ of the mirror walls.  The line of plane trees appears to multiply into a vast gridded orchard. The cobble path becomes a datum that extends endlessly into the deep space of the mirrors. The Tokyo EDITION, Toranomon, is a high-rise hotel project designed by Kengo Kuma with the vision of Ian Schrager. BAM had the honor to design the hotel’s highlight, a rooftop terrace overlooking Tokyo’s iconic skyline. Travelling to Japan BAM worked together with architects and interior designers to construct a luxurious green oasis that frames the city’s most famous landmarks such as the Tokyo Tower. The site is located on a primary subway line directly between the center of Beijing and the seven-runway Daxing Airport. Planned carefully by the local government as a central park, the 800m long green space is developed in a public/private partnership. Underground parking structures, subway links, bus hubs, and retail are planned to allow the park space to function as a green transport hub. Site architecture includes SOHO type park side low-rise units, office, retail, hotel, and a mall.  BAM was invited to design the landscape for the four plots of the site including the central park, which is managed by the local government. For award-winning MAHA Residential Gardens in Beijing BAM worked closely together with renowned hotelier Adrian Zecha to design the landscape and develop a multiphase masterplan strategy which seamlessly weaves in a complex mixture of new and existing, contemporary and classic to establish a grand sense of time for Beijing premier luxury residence redevelopment project. The site occupies the northern edge of Chaoyang Park inside the Fourth Ring Road.
