Renewal is perhaps the word that best defines the intentions that led the work of reform of the Fecomércio-MT's place. When we analyze the institution's facilities, we found that we should transform it completely, since it had become obsolete and not consistent with the importance of the institution. The site enjoyed a unique location in an old heavy industrial estate. Situated on the ground floor the double heighted office space had street presence & front appreciation space. This unique condition was exploited by designing ‘BOX IN BOX’ type of office. The ‘INSIDE BOX’ was separated from the existing ‘OUTER BOX’ by approximately 1.50 MT which creates the movement space. This space becomes the main passage to enter the ‘INSIDE SPACE’ from ‘OUTSIDE SPACE’. This kind of circumambulatory movement slowly & seductively unveils the interior space to the perception of the user. The main focus of this project was to renovate the apartment but without losing its original character from when it was inhabited by the grandmother. The dining room has been kept in the brightest area of the apartment. We decided to preserve the original tiles, repositioning them as patchwork for the entire flooring. The colored cemented tiles are therefor distinctive and predominant signs of the clean context, painted with white walls and filled with custom made dark pine furniture. The dining table is made of natural oak which is also published and designed by Manuarino Architecture studio. The consulate building Batumi (Georgia) was recently featured with CLS LED lighting. The 19th century building which houses two consulates and several offices, is recently restored. The LED lighting accentuates the historic character of the building.The challenge for the lighting designer was to create an exciting, perfectly matching colour draft. After some tests a combination of warm white and amber proved to give the desired result. REVO luminaires with blue LEDs give the dome on the roof a ‘heavenly’ touch.
