Minimal aesthetics

Casa Kuvo was commissioned to us in 2021 for the coastal locality of Matanzas in Chile, known for its weather conditions that favor the practice of water and wind sports. The brief called for a small unit of only 70 m2, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, suited for a younger population and preferably spread across two stories to make the most of the views towards the ocean. Casa Arco Iris is a project which remodels the 1990s-built detached villa located adjacent to a golf course in the Algarve. This is a 4 bedroom apartment with the drawing, living, kitchen, dining and a beautiful balcony in the front. The client came to us with a desire to create a home with a modest and timeless interior. They wanted their residence to be very simple, modern, and maintenance-free. The interiors follow a subtle color scheme, highlighting the luxurious grey Italian marble flooring, rich materials, and exquisite décor details. Unexpected touches like the exaggerated lights, brass artifacts, accents, and illusive patterns in the passage add surprise elements. Constrained by the long narrow site sandwiched between neighbouring properties, the design distills into the shifts of 3 volumes to shape light entering the spaces of this dwelling. Caption Caption Deprived of any side elevations to allow openings, the 3 cubes slides between the party walls to allow daylight into the middle of the house. Here, a double volume atrium space ensures light reaches the lower parts of the house from the skylights above. Staircases are located beneath the skylights on both sides of the atrium while a feature bookshelf on level 2 fronts one face of the atrium.
