Bylis Museum

The museum and visitor centre for the Bylis archaeological site in southern Albania is the result of a collaboration between Studio Lauria, Abkons and Archi.Media. The project interprets the Illyrian archaeological landscape as a unified system in which ruins, topography, vegetation and new visitor facilities work together to tell the story of the site. The building unfolds across several levels along a hillside of olive trees and broom, following the slopes rather than imposing an alien form. The volumes break down into smaller elements, the roofs become shading devices, and terraces create viewpoints over the archaeological site and the wider landscape. The museum, visitor services, learning areas and research spaces are arranged as a fl... More

Historical Oberamteistraße Museum, New Building

The historic row of houses at Oberamteistraße 28–32, together with the surviving basement of the ‘Stone House’ that once occupied no. 34 before its demolition in 1972, forms one of Reutlingen’s oldest surviving groups of buildings. Dating back to the 13th century, when the city was founded, the row reflects the development of building and living culture over the centuries in southern Germany. The rehabilitation, carried out in accordance with historic preservation criteria, required the construction of a new corner building on the site of the former ‘Stone House’. The new structure braces the surviving historic row and protects it from collapse, while the old buildings serve both as a museum and as... More

1. CONCEPTUAL PREMISE – “THE AXIS OF LEGACY”A longitudinal axis of water–reflection is proposed, which organizes the access, generates a ceremonial sequence between the city and the museum, and symbolizes the formative flow of the Academy (from the past to the present and to the future). The museum is articulated around this axis: front access/reception, exhibition halls and trophies next to the canal; the multipurpose room (SUM), auditorium, and services at the back; cafeteria/store with terrace. cesu studio design cesu studio design cesu studio design cesu studio design 2. D-day Museum

"When the vestiges have disappeared, the museum will remain” This sentence, taken from the programme, is very strong. It clearly states the major stakes of this project, which are remembrance, knowledge and transmission of this common history as well as our duty to remember beyond the certain disappearance of the remains of the artificial harbour in the near future. Antoine Cardi Antoine Cardi In this very open landscape, everything is a horizon The relationship of the project to the territory is fundamental and seems almost self-evident: positioned as it is, this museum is in fact an observatory. The transformation operation marks a new stage in the evolution of this unique site, which compelled us to reflect deeply upon... More

Mountain Slices- Longmenshan Nature Museum

00Group design team participated in the international design competition of Longmen Mountain Biodiversity Museum and put forward the proposal of ‘Mountains Slices’. The architectural order is taken from the unique nappe structure of Longmen Mountain. Due to the movement between Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and Sichuan Plain, the sheet like rocks stack together, squeezing together, layer upon layer, finally forming the unique nappe tectonics. 00Group 00Group Extract a part from Longmen Mountain, use it to stack the history of this place spatially, then the building takes form. Make a section of this fossil-like museum as the facade of it and shape a window of time. On the site, the inertia of Longmen Mountain passes through t... More

Sant'Ana Museum

The chain that used to hold it now houses the Sant'Ana Museum. Tenderness and understanding replace strength. Our task was to create spaces to protect and display these inspired carvings of diverse origin that pay homage to the mother of Mary, grandmother of Christ. Gustavo Werneck The gestures will always be kind, mimetic and reverent. The harmonious volumes are integrated into the built landscape of Rua Direita and Rua da Cadeia, almost imperceptibly. The architecture of rich proportions and solidly implanted rests on the soil of Tiradentes and allows the historic building to remain sovereign with its referential and iconographic power. “Oyane-San” - Shikoku Mura Entrance

On the northern tip of Shikoku Island surrounded by the Seto Inland Sea is Mt. Yashima, a peninsula with historical significance for Japan. This scenic locale hosts Shikoku Mura, a leading open-air architectural museum dedicated to preserving and showcasing traditional houses from the Shikoku region. Our challenge was to redesign its entrance, transforming it into a new focal point complete with information spaces, ticketing, restrooms, and a shop—all while symbolizing renewal. Caption Caption The site was a parking lot elevated above the main access road, loosely connecting a shrine to the east, the museum's udon restaurant within a traditional house (Waraya) to the south, and an old Western-style house (Ijinkan) to the we...
