The new 450-capacity music venue Atlantis by I.M.P. located next to 9:30 Club in Washington, DC offers an intimate concert space that pays homage to 9:30 Club’s original location at 930 F Street NW. Photography: Ron Ngiam Atlantis’ dramatically lit façade, which features a ghosted scrim of perforated metal panels and the architectural ornament of the F Street façade attached in a playful assembly, sets the tone for the unveiling of the original club’s history within. FTL designed the original tensile bandshell over twenty years ago and the producers of the events decided to upgrade the facility with a larger one as the PBS, 'A Capitol Fourth' and 'National Memorial Day Concert' has become major televsion events. The design of the new structure uses a saddle shape to project and balance sound from the different musical ensembles including the entire National Symphony Orchestra. The roof membrane also acts as a light canvas for the lighting and video projection which is an intricate part of the television experience.  More

Concert and promotions company I.M.P. hired CORE to convert an underutilized, non-historic lighting control room into a new full-service bar at the Lincoln Theatre on U Street NW in Washington, DC. The new bar discretely reveals itself within the District-owned Lincoln Theatre, without altering any of the historic elements of the Classical Revival design. The material palette blends with the original wood tones, gold trim, and plaster detailing of the theater. Located at the entrance into the main room, the bar faces the stage.
