Situated in Luster in the western part of Norway on a small plateau overlooking the beautiful Jostedalen glacier, Tungestølen comprises a constellation of pentagonal tourist cabins designed by Snøhetta for Luster Turlag, a local branch of the Norwegian National Trekking Association. This house is located on a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean.In order to enjoy unobstructed sea views, we placed a 21 meter x 8 meter 2-story building volume on the sea side of the site and placed it parallel to the coastline. Especially on the 2nd floor with a nice view the private area such as living, dining and bedroom. On the first floor there is an entrance, study, closet and a separate Japanese-style room for guest accommodation.On the second floor, on the sea side, there is a living dining area with a size of about 75m2 that can enjoy the sea view, a kitchen that overlooks the sea and the living, a terrace that can be used from both the living and the bathroom. The project tries to configure an idea of living conceived as fluid space, protected but at the same time interconnected with the surrounding landscape, able to grant privacy to the family but to project it perceptively in a wider spatiality, to connect it to the scale of the neighbourhood.The house presents itself as a diaphragm of open and closed, built and natural spaces variously interlaced.
