NAT OFFICE - christian gasparini architect
Based in Reggio Emilia and Milan, NAT OFFICE founded by Christian Gasparini (professor at Milan Polytechnic), turns its attention to the relationship between architecture, city and landscape, and investigates modular structures, interweaving scales, typologies, spaces for a new identity between place and people. Architecture becomes a medium between Nature and Technology, capable of constructing a sense of human presence in nature. Several critical contributions have been presented in publications in Italy and abroad.
NAT OFFICE is known for a wide response to competitions: the office won the 1st prize for La Corte Civic Center in Parma (2001, completed, Almanacco di Casabella 2006, Una Geografia dell’Architettura 2013), the restricted invitation call for Elvise Carpi Nursery School in Reggio Emilia (2004 completed, Almanacco di Casabella 2008), designs, after consultation with Emilia Romagna Heritage Department, Spazio Marco Gerra, European Photography Center in Reggio Emilia (2005, Convention Architecture 2012), won the 1st prize in the invitation call for Casa Gualerzi Restoration (2012 Houselevel Homeoffice) and for New Energy Mobility Hub Concept on SCAT Italian highway network (2019) and several awards and mentions in national and international competitions such as the 2nd prize for Fondazione Magnani Exhibit Design in Reggio Emilia (2021), Alpine Resort Keil Brunico (2011) and ex aequo Città Alessandrina Cultural Centre in Rome (2009), the 3rd prize for Testaccio Art Labs and Sport Park Masterplan in Rome (2020), Recovery Gnutti Barracks in Brescia (2014) Educational Campus and Urban Park in Novellara (2009) and Santorso Library and Media Center in Vicenza (2006), the 4th prize for Luxury Residences in Barcelona (2013) and for Silk Road Map Unesco Shanghai (2010), and was finalist in 2 stage design competitions such as Lorenteggio Public Library (2018), Liuni Headquarters in Milan (2016) and Liturgical Renovation Cei Facility Center Chapel in Rome (2021).
The practice extends its approach to different topics: masterplan/landscape, cultural/public, education/cult, sports/leisure, work/office, temporary/exhibition and housing/housing. Participation in design competitions leads to continuous experimentation: the office won several architectural competitions in Italy and abroad. NAT Office’ s works received many awards, such as Architizer A+Awards - New York and American Architecture Prize - Los Angeles 2017 (with RABM), Archdaily BOTY - Los Angeles 2018, Inarcassa and Cicop Award winner - Florence 2018, Best Italian Future Living Design Platform - Milan 2022 (with HLBH), Best Italian Exhibition Design Platform - Milan 2019, The Plan Awards - Bologna 2019 (with SEGB), BigSee Architecture Award winner - Ljubjana, International Creative Competition - London, DNA Paris Design Award winner - Paris 2019, Archdaily BOTY - Mexico City 2020, IN/ARCH new architecture ER 2020 special award winner (with HHCR), Wood Architecture Prize – Bolzano 2023 and Architettura Emilia Romagna - Rigenera 2023 (with SAGM).
NAT OFFICE is now working on architectural masterplans, international competitions and residential project, developing new urban strategies for Smart City.
