PEAK RESORT - A-FRAME TREE HOUSE

Nestled high above the serene expanse of the Bhatghar Dam valley in Maharashtra, this treehouse project represents a seamless blend of contemporary design and natural surroundings. The challenge was to create a retreat that not only capitalized on the panoramic views of the valley but also minimized its impact on the delicate ecosystem. This unique structure of 640 sq. ft. , perched on a single, imposing MS I-beam, is a testament to both architectural ingenuity and sustainability. Harjeet Singh Sodhi The design of the treehouse was driven by the vision of creating a self-contained, elevated retreat for a group of six that resembles the wooden tree house with the elimination of real pinewood material. The lower floor houses a spacious... More

Wasa Student Village

The area of Sloterdijk, west of the city centre of Amsterdam, is undergoing a radical transformation. As a result of the 2008 financial crisis this initially mono-functional office area suffered high rates of vacancy. The lack of housing and public amenities lead to a decay of the environment as a whole. Reacting to the housing shortage crisis, the city of Amsterdam formulated a new zoning plan transforming vacant office buildings into short-stay apartments and allowing for additional 1,500 to 2,000 new dwellings to be built. Sonia Mangiapane The Student Village is built in the direct vicinity of the Sloterdijk Station. It is a modular structure based on a prefabricated student housing unit. The construction method and its low cost me... More

Located on a steep hill, with large trees, surrounded by pine forests and hiking trails, it inspired interesting projects, but they were constantly delayed due to the potential complexity of the work. 2022 turned out to be a difficult year, and it was at this time that the desire of the owner came together with the capabilities of the DublDom team and their partners to make a bright and unusual project. It became a real challenge for all participants. Zephyr House

Urban Scale: The Zephyr House project emerged as a response to the contemporary demands of life and architecture, aiming to blend modern needs with elements drawn from historical architecture seamlessly. The goal is to make a substantial impact in curbing carbon footprint and energy consumption in buildings. Caption Caption Addressing this challenge involved the creation of four distinctive houses arranged in a modular pattern. By repeating these patterns, a town comprising sixteen houses was meticulously designed. The implementation process promises to be exceptionally swift and cost-effective, with efficient planning and construction methods. Polaris North Offices

This intervention is based on the pre-existence of a building on the plot and, taking partial advantage of its structure and foundations, generates a large platform on which a new, more efficient, representative and functional building rests. The demolition of the upper section of the original building allows for unconstrained growth from the first floor up, generating a reception area as a loggia with a large porticoed area. On this base plinth, five floors are added with peripheral work areas and a central core with a new distribution of services and vertical circulation. On both sides of the core, two courtyards provide additional lighting in work areas. ... More

Luxury modular house "DUB"

We had a difficult task - to assemble a large luxury single-family house from the modules produced at the factory. But first, it is important to say what the word "Modular" means to us. This is a house consisting of volumetric modules, in which all the interior decoration, electrics, plumbing, and possibly even furniture are made at the factory. Such a house is assembled in the production, delivered by trucks and installed with a crane in one day on the lot. Another 1-2 weeks are required for the final exterior finish. We have already done projects from 16 to 110 square meters, but this is the first time we have designed such a large serial modular house. Sergey Nastavnik In the project, we combined the environmental friendliness of a... More

Brette Haus in Hollenbek

On the 15th of September 2022, the Brette Haus showcased its brand new folding house in Europe. The “Rustic 20 XL” was installed in Hollenbek, Germany. What is it? This is a 30 sq.m. tiny wooden house for hospitality accommodation. It was developed and manufactured in March 2021 in collaboration with cross-laminated timber manufacturer WIGO Group. Caption The key feature of this cabin is its compact transportation size. The folding feature allows optimizing delivery two times. Three modules are connected with hinges and fold inside each other. Thus, no air is transported only multiple layers of the cabin. This is a game-changer for hospitality businesses because delivery usually adds 10-15% to the price. There is a ground f... More

e-Frame: Modular Prefabricated Construction in AR

e-FRAME is based on the very simple idea of an innovative structural node and rods that can be combined together at will to create buildings of varied complexity. The system is assembled with dry construction techniques, thus making it suitable for very quick and effective setup of buildings under different climatic conditions and at different latitudes. We have built an immersive experience to let users explore a simple prefabricated housing unit typology in 1:1 scale. The immersive experience has both a VR and an AR component. The VR experience is accessed via a standalone application for Oculus Rift S and allows users to virtually explore the building as a virtual environment More

Orange Architects completes compact wooden vacation home with flexible interiors

Along the northern Dutch coast, on the Wadden Island Texel, Orange Architects designed a compact wooden retreat. The design is tailored to the way in which the clients want to spend their vacation. A place that breaks with daily routine and maximises the relationship with its green surroundings. Sebastian van Damme Since during vacations you spend more time together and there is less need for private space, the architects maximised the functions of each space. House of Switzerland

The House of Switzerland is a mobile building that serves a diplomatic function representing Switzerland’s professional sporting interests in various locations. Its wooden construction makes a connection between traditional and highly modern timber engineering. The largely standardised construction consisting of 193 elements has a tectonic expression. Four archaic, radially arranged structures connected to each other by metal locks enclose an inner courtyard.  Structurally active red tension belts create associations with stacks of wood or freight. The image of a tied bundle is a key part of the concept: it symbolises Switzerland, made up of different regions, national languages and cantons. The dimensions of the prefabricat... More

New digital platform informs the design of the Roatán Próspera Residences by Zaha Hadid Architects

For the Roatán Próspera residences, Zaha Hadid Architects with AKT II and Hilson Moran Partnership have developed a new digital architectural platform. Located on the island of Roatán, one of the largest of the Bay Islands of Honduras, the platform was key in developing housing with a specific ecological and social response to the climate, terrain, and culture of the region. Courtesy: Zaha Hadid Architects The team’s design approach starts with a comprehensive understanding of local supply chain, logistics, and construction techniques. This involved in particular sourcing sustainable timber from certified forests on the Honduran mainland for structural elements and further treating this timber locally. Digit... More
