Nestled high above the serene expanse of the Bhatghar Dam valley in Maharashtra, this treehouse project represents a seamless blend of contemporary design and natural surroundings. The challenge was to create a retreat that not only capitalized on the panoramic views of the valley but also minimized its impact on the delicate ecosystem. This unique structure of 640 sq. ft. , perched on a single, imposing MS I-beam, is a testament to both architectural ingenuity and sustainability.
The design of the treehouse was driven by the vision of creating a self-contained, elevated retreat for a group of six that resembles the wooden tree house with the elimination of real pinewood material. The lower floor houses a spacious bedroom, living room, and master bath, all leading out to a generous deck that provides uninterrupted views of the surrounding landscape. The tree house is our Hybrid House product which is built using Prefabricated technology along with use of Light weight compressed blocks walls used as the exterior wall, and reduction of structural load with the use of smart board fibre cement panels in internal walls. Exterior walls are given wooden appearance with the use of Wood stain by Remmers Bau, Germany. Large glass doors and windows allows the structure to merge organically with its environment while offering the comfort and luxury of modern living.
The loft floor is dedicated to additional private spaces—another bedroom, bathroom, and a balcony offering more intimate views of the valley below. With this layout, the design maximizes both communal and private areas, giving the inhabitants the freedom to enjoy the surrounding nature in solitude or together.
Underneath the treehouse, the design incorporates a stone sit-out area that serves as a tranquil outdoor space, ideal for simply enjoying the breeze in the nature. The stone seating was intentionally designed to evoke a sense of grounding, offering visitors a contrast to the elevated experience above.
The innovative use of a single I-beam as the structural backbone of the treehouse was a defining feature of this project. Not only does it minimize the environmental footprint, but it also allows the structure to "float" above the landscape, giving the impression that it is part of the natural fabric of the environment rather than imposing upon it. The steel beam’s minimalistic form enhances the sense of lightness, while carefully chosen materials and finishes create a warm, inviting atmosphere inside.
Ultimately, this treehouse is not just an architectural feat; it is a careful meditation on the relationship between human habitation and the natural world. The design celebrates this balance, offering visitors a rare opportunity to disconnect from the world and reconnect with nature in a space that feels both luxurious and grounded.
