Residential Welded Wire Railings

This newly built residence is an interior design model that combines modern elegance with functionality. The open-plan layout, high ceilings, and large windows make this space so bright, airy, and so inviting. Upper-level flooring and railing in dark tones add a further streak of sophistication to an already enhanced contemporary vibe of the space. With all of the open space in this home, the homeowners wanted to keep as much open feel as possible with the aesthetics. Banker Wire Banker Wire Using the Banker Wire WDZ-49 welded wire mesh, they installed railing infills powder coated in Raven Black for their home. Three Trees

A house built around three trees. Rather than cutting down any trees on the lot, we built this house around them, enclosing them into open air courtyards. Every room in the house opens out into an outdoor space with a sheltering tree.  Jeremy Levine The design plays on the idea of a ‘Regional Modernism’ by merging two of the local architectural styles of the region: the thick walls and courtyards of the Spanish Colonial style and the exposed structure and open plan and glass walls of the California Case Study homes. Tom Bonner This is a zero-energy Passive House that produces its own solar power, heats water with solar hot water system, recycles grey water and captures rain water. Caption Sustainable Featu... Northbourne Road

Matthew Giles Architects’ contemporary interpretation of proportion, form, and architectural detailing see the remarkable transformation of this 4 storey, villa-like home, first built in the 1860s.   The semi-detached suburban house lies within Clapham Park & Northbourne Road Conservation Area, and so the design team responded with an approach that was sympathetic and cohesive with much of the Victorian vernacular in the local area: yellow London stock brick, stucco mouldings around the doors, timber sash windows, and natural slate roofs.  © James Newton The remaking of this home included the demolition of an existing rear addition, replaced by a striking single storey infill extension that accommodates a ne... Nest House

Nest House is a single-storey home constructed using Studio Bark’s modular and dismantlable U-Build system. The project was built by students as part of the pioneering student build programme No Building As Usual, conceived as an effective way to teach participants about sustainable design and alternative working practices. Caption The client’s aspiration was for a home that would cater to their long-term physical needs, whilst accomplishing a low carbon footprint. The fully accessible home is free of concrete and steel and instead uses reclaimed timber foundations, and timber roof and floor beams designed by U-Build and Structure Workshop. These design decisions, alongside many others, have created a ‘circular&lsquo... More

As Büro, we looked for the answers to the following questions for a family that will visit this house once in a while, since they are living abroad, are: “Can we define this place as a” house” if the life inside this space is not regular? How can we define quality in a building complex where the program and capacity are valued more than the quality of the space? For us as Büro, the carefully curated material select... More

Gallery House

A renovation and reconfiguration project, our client needed an intervention for their beloved but aesthetically outdated house, that would connect spaces within an around the front entrance and bring new life to their home. Caption The addition connected the two volumes of the house creating a new powder room and providing access to the garage from the existing kitchen. The volume, geometry, and materiality were carefully selected for the addition, and brought together the previously disjointed visual presence of the home. The challenges revolved around keeping the addition distinct from the existing structure while refraining from clashing with it. The interior also needed to be reconfigured to connect the various spaces with an impr... More
