Pyrite

In the heart of Seoul, a small monolith with a finely chiseled dark concrete surface subtly disrupts the rhythm of the street façade in a district of townhouses and villas. The architecture of this building, Pyrite—a private residence with ancillary spaces—owes its unusual appeal to a design strategy that emphasizes the massing of interlocking forms, generated through the twisting of the upper volume to capture different views, set much like the cuboid formation of its crystal namesake. Sun Namgoong Sun Namgoong Split vertically into two, the architecture of the building reserves its larger section for its owner and his family, serving as a personal residence and home office accessed through a private elevator... D House

D House strives to reflect a sophisticated balance of modern architectural elements by seamlessly integrating form, function, and nature. With the intentional use of linearity at the core of its design, the sharp lines of the walls and roof planes create a harmonious flow of space. The interplay of geometries create a continuous dialogue between the interior and exterior spaces. This sense of fluidity is further enhanced by large ceramic tiles, which not only enhance the visual continuity of the walls but also add texture and depth, making the surfaces both expansive and inviting. The design also incorporates soft, indirect lighting that highlights the ceiling, accentuating its floating appearance and casting shadows along the rooflines. Th... More

House in Holsbeek

A new family home is located on a sloped terrain in Holsbeek, Belgium on the edge of the forest with respect for its context, the surrounding trees, its orientation and the different viewpoints.  Tim Van de Velde The building volume is pushed into the terrain with the entrance, bedrooms and bathroom located on the ground floor to keep the rooms cool in warm weather conditions. Consortes House

Located in an unconsolidated urbanized area, this project was developed in harmony with the geographical conditions of its implementation. It didn't link to any pre-existing volume set and started a new dialog: a dialog of its own. This approach comes from the fact that there is little information regarding the organization of the intervention space. This way, the design detached itself from the urban form and was governed by principles intrinsic to itself. In terms of space organization, the project is defined by its forms according to the ideal solar orientation. The filtering of the southern light, whose intensity is so strong in Mediterranean countries, is achieved through fenestration of smaller measures in relation to the large spans... More

Krara House

This design is formulated as a system that represents a hybrid structure of what is architectural and what is natural, balancing the daily needs of humans with structure. The system aims to resemble systems in nature, so that the building interacts with its surroundings and creates a coherent ecosystem from a set of elements and systems that interact with the architectural composition. Caption This house is designed to form an open novel, with each corner of the house forging a new story every day, and new opportunities to explore. That makes these corners a vocabulary for dialogue and communication between inside and outside. The field of view forms an additional space and parallel stories between nature and the architectural space.... More
