Almost like an intruder, it is erected oblivious to the traditional construction methods of the district. Total renovation of a 60m2 apartment in the Lourdes neighborhood of Belo Horizonte. Paula Brant Our challenge was to work with a very compartmentalized plan. The idea was to reduce the compartments and increase the social area, with a large kitchen integrated with the living room. The focus of the renovation of this apartment located in Brasília’s Plano Piloto was the reconfiguration of the social areas, in order to improve the relationship between the different spaces and equate the transition between them and the kitchen area, so that they can be isolated or integrated according to the different user needs. The refurbished home is in a Valencia city centre building. Built around 1900, it has wooden beams and joists, ceramic vaults and solid brick walls. After 1900, the building underwent full refurbishment in order to reinforce the original structure adding a metal reinforcement structure. It is a building built during the 90s that over time has been changing owners and undergoing different modifications made by its tenants, which caused a complete disconnection from the original project. This 80 m² property was built in 1930, with highly compartmentalised spaces and inner rooms with no ventilation to the outside. This home in the Patraix district, to the south of Valencia, required a refurbishment that would adapt to the young couple’s reality. The starting point was therefore defined as extending spaces to enhance natural light and cross-ventilation within the home. Our proposal is based on an architectural design that combines all spaces, making them more permeable and better connected. It seeks a wood-covered element to unify the home, featuring from west to east, and which contains much of the programme. The reform "Housing in La Playa de las Canteras" was developed in the coastal neighborhood of Guanarteme, on the isthmus of the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The house in question is located in a building with a stepped façade, located on the first line of Playa de las Canteras avenue and with impressive views of the sea and its sunsets. A remote place in the north of Mallorca is where this new project developed by Minimal Studio is located. Protected by ancient medieval walls, we access the main entrance through narrow and picturesque alleys, which give the project a special atmosphere and charm. The main objective of the architectural intervention was to provide greater spatial amplitude inside the house. The project is based on the renovation of a house in Petrer with an area of 104m2, distributed in two floors in which there were no intervention since their construction in the 50’s. The main goal of the project was to realize an integral design, looking for the maximum use of the surface, the purity of lines and the precision in the execution.The deteriorated state of the house, with a very fragmented distribution and little natural light, added to the existence of transversal load walls inside the house, forced an integral reform and to reinforce the structure in a precise way to achieve the spatial connection that would respond to the needs of the new owners.
