The property is located in an area of single-family homes close to the center of Oviedo. It is a building built during the 90s that over time has been changing owners and undergoing different modifications made by its tenants, which caused a complete disconnection from the original project. The property has a large estate with enviable views of Mount Naranco and the city of Oviedo. Therefore, one of the primary objectives is to enhance the connection of the home with its surroundings.
The house had small openings which made it impossible for light to enter, in addition the different spaces were very compartmentalized and created useless corridors. This was a point required by our clients who requested an open kitchen that was in connection with the living room and the garden.
Action was taken throughout the distribution of the house in such a way that contact with the surroundings is never lost from the moment you enter the house, large openings were opened on the façade down to the ground to allow light to enter and give continuity to the garden through through large windows.
The incorporation of a fireplace made it possible to link spaces together such as the entrance, the living room and the kitchen. The terrace was in a very deteriorated state and made it impossible to use and enjoy a protected dining area outside, for that reason it was completely modified, creating a new wooden structure with one side protected from the prevailing wind and serving as a parapet with the unevenness of the land, so that the garden space can be used practically all year round.
