Bachgraben Public Pool Restaurant

Total renovation and conversion of a 1960s concrete service building The public swimming pool Gartenbad Bachgraben was built in 1962 after plans by Otto and Walter Senn in collaboration with the engineer Heinz Hossdorf. The concrete buildings distributed across the site are exemplary of post-war modernism and are listed in the inventory of the Basel-Stadt monument preservation authorities. The service building directly next to the main entrance to the pool grounds had only been partially renovated since its construction and was in need of a complete refurbishment. The staff areas no longer met the current use requirements and the restaurant had not been in operation since 2011 due to various issues. Barbara Buehler architectural photogr... More

Diseño de arquitectura para restaurante tropical

Project for the dining area of a fast food restaurant. Our design for this fast food restaurant in the tropics takes special care of the empirical conditions of the site, considering them as an unavoidable material of the project.Despite the insubstantial quality of the site where the restaurant was to be built, we found that the two existing palm trees ensured a good amount of shade during the hottest hours of the day and in the afternoon, thanks to the neighboring building, the solar radiation did not fall directly on the area to be intervened. In this sense, we discovered that it was only necessary to protect ourselves a little from the rain, make the wind a breeze and delimit the dining area to give it some privacy. A signature ergonomically curved brick wall defines the Mutu Loka cafe in Bandung, Indonesia

Founded in 2022, the Mutu Loka cafe, designed by Aaksen Responsible Aarchitecture, drew inspiration from the evolution of Cilaki 33 and its juxtaposition of outdated contemporary lifestyle with modern design elements. The pandemic of the early 2020s led people to discern the importance of open spaces in communal areas, a concept central to MUTU Loka's philosophy. The main building in the front area holds significance for the project, once adorned with the sculpture of 'Tiloejane', which symbolised the identity of Cilaki 33. Azzahra Dartaman, Martha Aurelia, Vanessa Adinda Rahmadya The design seeks to unravel the charm of the original building by restoring the structure and removing the unnecessary masses, organically added on top... Ilgwang_Yours

Joonhwan Yoon Recently, Gijang in Busan is attracting a lot of attention with special cafes. It is spotlighted by people who wanted to drink tea sitting facing the scenic sea. This is because people know that when they sit facing nature, their minds are naturally calm and their hard daily lives are healed. However, people rarely go to see the scenery and buildings again after visiting them like a tourist attraction. This is because the architectural space doesn’t have various dialogues (relationships) with the natural nature. So, I tried to induce various dialogues between the architectural space and the sea through ‘Ilgwang_Yours’. Instead of visiting once, I hoped that various dialogues would take place in this spac... Adega Santiago Restaurant

The restaurant Adega Santiago, which already had three units in the city of São Paulo, opened its first unit in Rio de Janeiro in the old event space of a mall in Barra da Tijuca. The new restaurant, which has gained a privileged location that opens to the landscape of the Tijuca Lagoon, had as main challenge to convert a large space in a more intimate environment. Its spatial organization privileges the visual connection of the hall with the lagoon, while its operational areas are concentrated close to the loading and services access of the mall and close to the original blind walls of the salon. The connection of the restaurant with the view of the lagoon also occurs through the interior design and furniture, which reinforce this r... More

Craft Pizza Jerusalem

Our interior design for Craft Jerusalem, a new Pizza restaurant located in the magical city of Jerusalem, was inspired by Italian design motives, as well as by the beautiful golden neighborhood surroundings. Our mission was twofold, to create a cozy and inviting environment, which is also trendy, giving costumers a sense of sophistication.  The restaurant, with yellow booths and a black-and-white tile floor designed exclusively for the client, also features a beautiful charcoal oven in the bar, which immediately gives visitors a homey feeling. An eclectic choice of materials (wood, tile, stone, marble), and modern furniture combine to give visitors the perfect dining experience.  More

Grechka lab bakery

The bright unit with high ceilings which was chosen for the project is located in the revenue house of I. M. Korovin and was historically preceded by a bakery. Before embarking on the project, we scrutinized the history of the house and its district. The house was built in 1914, and the bakery appeared straight after, being a part of quite an enormous Moscovian chain of bakeries ‘Titov and His Sons’. The building façade still retains an antique sign ‘Bakery OTD M.G.K.I.O’ which supposedly harks back to the 1920s.   Thus, we had a historical unit and a technical task from a customer to recreate the pre-revolutionary atmosphere of a bakery and to sustain the historical significance of the place.  ...
