Recently, Gijang in Busan is attracting a lot of attention with special cafes. It is spotlighted by people who wanted to drink tea sitting facing the scenic sea. This is because people know that when they sit facing nature, their minds are naturally calm and their hard daily lives are healed. However, people rarely go to see the scenery and buildings again after visiting them like a tourist attraction. This is because the architectural space doesn’t have various dialogues (relationships) with the natural nature. So, I tried to induce various dialogues between the architectural space and the sea through ‘Ilgwang_Yours’. Instead of visiting once, I hoped that various dialogues would take place in this space and the value of this space would be known. And the dialogue here was completed by allowing people to experience nature (sea) from various perspectives several times through the architectural space.

The beach and the sea of Ilgwang are horizontal. And the tranquil horizontal has a heavy force. In order to relate to these interfaces with the sea, I induced quiet and heavy, but little light and cheerful movement depending on the situation, compared to the characteristics of the sea. While creating various views of high and low, I let space talk to the sea in various ways. And architectural dialogues don’t try to win in the face of great natural forces. Rather, it reveals its existence as it is by directing light movements as they are. Only then will users realize the power of nature even more. This is the result of dialogue with the sea.

In Ilgwang_Yours, it became a schema that imaged and shaped the movement of the waves, the shape of the beach, and the spray of the waves. These schemas fuse and act together to create images. The white volume is tangled with each other, revealing each other’s lumps, and the white mass tries to have dialogues each other with the rolling waves. The space built as it gradually grew was taken into account the architectural perspective. A continuous foreground is created in front of the architectural gaze, which creates a landscape unique to this place without breaking off during the movement. And this scenery tries the dialogue while inducing the people’s movement.

The building is positioned in a way that corresponds with the appearance of the Ilgwang beach, which leads to the most efficient view of the sea. Passing through the passage leading to the movement on the external road, a different semi-external space booth is found before reaching the building. This volume is made up of coarse exposed concrete and creates space by adjusting the concentration of surrounding using glass. The place is inadvertently empty, but people can feel the existence of space while looking at the empty space in wonder.

The first floor has a shape that rises as the space that can’t be seen at a glance winds around. Standing here and looking as the sea, only horizontal lines can be seen through the railings outside. The height of the gaze was intentionally adjusted so that the inside was dynamic, but the outside sea was perceived as static. The stairway up to the second floor was emphasized as an abject, faintly suggesting that it is a space perpendicular to the upper floor. The scenery seen as people climb the stairs leads to a new direction as people reach the second floor. And the scenery on the second floor in front of users induces them to quickly head to the right.

The second floor consists of two levels, and the outer terrace of the second floor consists of another level. This level difference plays a role in securing a view toward the sea at various points. The light-filled glass volume located at the end of the second floor is a function that makes people to head to the rooftop, and from there, there is a continuous space where people can hear the sound of waves and wind directly. When people get to the rooftop, they can’t see the sea right away. In order to see the sea in person, they should move once again. They should choose one of the two options (two-pronged movements) in front of their eyes, which is the process of choosing a different sea and scenery.
