Q House II
This is an old alleyway house in the old Shanghai area. The owner Mr. Qiu plans to use it for future retirement life.
The house was narrow and dim with complex elevation difference, but it has a view to the golden spire of Jing'an Temple through the dormer in the attic. Mr. Qiu likes Shanghai-retro style, so we tried to draw inspiration from history. The nearby neighbourhood has buildings of diverse styles from abroad, such as the Spanish-style villa on Wukang Road, which has a street-facing‘one-step balcony’,which writer Chen Danyan calls "Romeo's Balcony". Multi-generational care Knittelfeld
The existing state care centre in Knittelfeld, Austria, was renovated by Gem. Wohn- und Siedlungsgenossenschaft Ennstal, a non-profit housing and settlement cooperative, for Volkshilfe Steiermark, a non-profit social services organisation. The work also includes a new two-storey care home and a childcare facility. Designed by Dietger Wissounig Architects, the project brings together the carefully upgraded existing structure and a contemporary extension to form an integrated, multigenerational complex.

New Build Retirement Property
This backland site was part of a generous 4 bedroomed property that benefits from a mature garden, including listed trees and well established, mature boundary hedging. The site for the new property was chosen by our client for its minimal impact on the existing property. The result is a narrow, east-west orientated building plot, partially encroached by tree root protection zones and existing planting which is to be retained. The building plot also forms a stop-end to an existing 1970s mews, which is a dominant yet incomplete development pattern.Early stage 3D modelling highlighted three key amenity areas with optimum light throughout the day and the seasons. Derfner Judaica Museum
The design for the recently completed 5,000 square foot Derfner Judaica Museum located within the Jacob Reingold Pavilion at the Hebrew Home for the Aged in Riverdale, New York establishes an inclusive prototype for the design of cultural institutions in the era of the aging, urbane, baby-boom generation. It is a forward-thinking yet humane environment comprised of accessible spaces that are architecturally comfortable, curatorially comprehensible and technologically equipped to meet the needs of both the current and future elderly.
