Dr. Jasim's Residence, Bashundhara, Dhaka
Dr. Jasimuddin bought a 4 katha plot in Bashundhara, Dhaka in 2019. He wanted a bright duplex for his own family, a large terrace with plenty of green, and a building that would still work for the next generation. Studio Archifiction handled full building design, RAJUK approval documentation and construction. It became our first completed residential building project.
Halfway through, his priorities changed. Rental income mattered more and the budget tightened. We protected the planned spaces and the building performance, and adjusted materials and details instead of cutting usable area. The finished building supports both family use and long term rent.

Coming from award-winning, interdisciplinary design studio MODU, Mini Tower One is a nature-infused multi-family renovation and rear addition in Brooklyn, NY, that rethinks indoor-outdoor living while adding 30% more area to the building. Stone Pier
This modern design utilizes stone piers to suspend volumes of glass to create the interior spaces, and capture views from throughout the home to connect with the natural beauty of the surrounding wetlands. Inside, wood elements are used to give warmth and contrast to the stone to create a welcoming feel to the spaces.

Spectacular rooftop garden completed at London's Battersea Roof Garden Building
Offering a magical new lookout in London, a 29,000 square-foot rooftop garden by James Corner of Field Operations is now complete. Situated alongside the iconic Battersea Power Station, the project is one of London's largest residential roof gardens and features more than 23,000 plants and 55 trees.

The gardens are situated on the sixteenth floor of Foster + Partners' Battersea Roof Garden Building, a mixed-use development comprising 436 homes, a 164-room hotel, and a 200,000-square-foot office building. Multifunctional spaces in a renewing working environment
Our task was the interior design of the Academia Business Center office building renovation. Due to a change in tenants, the owner had the opportunity to rethink the spaces, expand the range of available functions and modernise the interior design. In addition, the client plans to create a new terrace on the roof, offering a unique panoramic view of the city centre. New ways of working blur the boundaries between functions.

Featuring a concentric void spanning six floors with wood-clad escalators crisscrossing throughout, OMA’s first quadrant of the masterplan for the Kaufhaus Des Westens (KaDeWe) is now complete.

In addition, its exceptional 90,000 square meter size distinguishes it as the largest building of its kind on the continent. Designed from the inside out, realizing a life-resistant living and working house on a plot in Buiksloterham for an architect couple. The preconditions: sustainable, maximum development of the plot, parking on site and free of welfare. The program: a sustainable home with workspace and painting studio, as much light, air and gardens as possible and a part to rent out.

SP Space subtly blends into Indonesia’s natural environment
Sarae Hills is a 15-acre natural environment located in Dago, Bandung, Indonesia. Preserved as an open space for people to experience ecotourism, the site includes a multi-purpose building and restaurant. With its simple geometrical form and architectural language, the building, designed by Hadivincent Architects, serves as a backdrop for both the activities of the guests and the ever-transforming natural environment that surrounds.

On the rooftop of an early twentieth-century palace in Mexico City, this contemporary intervention shows how valuable structures can be creatively re-used and adapted.

Functioning as a space for cultural and festive events, the palace rooftop previously included three existing, uncovered patios. To make the rooftop space more functional in light of occasional rains that interrupt activities, the owners sought to provide cover. Productora Architects responded with a single proposal: a continuous roof structure, more than 50 m in length, connecting the existing patios and generating a large new covered area on the roof.

By repurposing 236,806 square feet of waste rooftop space, Thammasat University (Thailand) introduces as adaptive climate solution with Asia’s largest organic rooftop farm. Called the Thammasat University Rooftop Farm (TURF), the project integrates the contemporary landscape architecture of LANDPROCESS with the traditional farming ingenuity of traditional rice terraces.

“Shanchita” means a “collection of memories”, in a way to treasure. The lifestyle of Dhaka has considerably changed over the last 35 years.
