Redpoint Ventures came to IwamotoScott with the aim of establishing a new urban presence for their highly regarded  Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm at South Park in San Francisco. Part of the contextual legacy of this desirable locale is that the Wired magazine was founded in the vicinity. "Cellular Origami" is the name of IwamotoScott's design for the new facade for UCSF's 3rd Street Garage in San Francisco's Mission Bay neighborhood that was produced in response to an invited design competition. The competition brief was focused on creating a new facade to transform UCSF's 3rd Street Garage, which had its earlier facade made of channel glass removed a number of years ago. Penumbra is a work of Public Art situated on Market Street, San Francisco's urban spine. PS House densifies the inner block of an already dense San Francisco neighborhood (North Beach), while bringing an unexpected degree of spaciousness, natural light and connection with the outside to a small 1200sf urban house. It is a speculative project aimed at maximizing the potential of an existing dilapidated structure at the rear of the property, which was demolished but whose small footprint could not be expanded. IwamotoScott designed this new ground-up house in the Noe Valley neighborhood, as a speculative infill development for a builder in San Francisco whom we've worked together with on several projects. The site is located on a steep street, but has a fairly level topography within the lot, newly opened up by the demolition of a dilapidated small house at the rear of the property. This is Bloomberg’s first flagship Tech Hub on the West Coast. The new space, completed in May 2015, is both a workplace for Bloomberg’s software engineers and an event space to help foster connections between Bloomberg and Silicon Valley. Bruce Damonte The design juxtaposes new elements against the exposed raw materials of the building shell and translates the form and geometry of the exterior ornamentation. IwamotoScott were approached with the challenge of re-positioning of 160 Spear Street, including the public lobby, public plaza and two entrances. The existing building is a commercial highrise from the 1980s that houses UC Extension on upper floors, in Downtown San Francisco. IwamotoScott The building has a through-block lobby connecting Main Street to the south and Spear Street to the north via a landscaped plaza that is one of the city's POPOS spaces (Privately Owned Public Outdoor Space). The new Twitch HQ occupies eight floors of the new 350 Bush building in downtown San Francisco. Video gaming being at the center of Twitch's universe, we started the conceptual design approach with an initial round of design research and studies reinterpreting the characters, patterns and spaces of early video games. This newest Pinterest headquarters, in a new six story concrete structure in San Francisco's SOMA district, is positioned to create an urban campus with their earlier workspaces completed down the street. It is similarly inspired by the ongoing evolution of the company's web platform design - clean, simple, intuitive, and a canvas for creativity. The main lobby at ground level constitutes one of the city's POPOS spaces -- i.e.  a Privately Owned Public Outdoor Space. The new Pinterest headquarters is inspired by the redesign of the company's web platform — clean, simple, intuitive. One design goal was to create a space somewhat open-ended and slightly incomplete – so as to allow for interventions and installations by the Pinterest employees over time (continuing the strong D.I.Y. aspect of the company culture present since the early days). Heavybit Industries is a co-working space designed for early stage companies making cloud software developer products. The Heavybit program curates, fosters and promotes innovation and solution-finding through invited presentations, public events, education, advising, and inter-developer collaboration. The client brief aimed to transform the existing former warehouse into a collaborative workspace.
