The Davis Community

The program for The Davis Community’s expansion originated based on input from feasibility studies, the community’s desire for outreach, the geometry of the site, and input on best practices. The concept that emerged was to create a vibrant hub, featuring a world-class community and wellness center called The Promenade, and Independent Living spaces, including 32 cottages and this 141-unit apartment building known as “The Residences.” Peak Visuals Peak Visuals Peak Visuals Peak Visuals Peak Visuals Peak Visuals Peak Visuals Peak Visuals Peak Visuals Peak Visuals Peak Visuals Peak Visuals Peak Visuals Peak Visuals Peak Visuals Peak Visuals... Unforgotten Corner - Elderly-friendly Renovation

Located in a community built in the 1980s on the county border of Fenyi, Jiangxi, the old house has been standing there for over forty years. Time stands still in the community while the world outside has undergone radical changes. The house had been extended mildly several times over the years, but it is left behind by the time and a huge disconnect appears between the interior space quality and modern life. Lack of daylight and poor ventilation in the interior pose relevant safety concerns for the house owner who is in an old age. Thus, improving the quality of life in the old house within a limited budget is set to be the key target of the project. The community sits next to a railway. Most walls in the community are built in the style... More

HSG - Hilde-Spiel-Gasse

Located in the southern periphery of Vienna, between the Liesing river and Liesing train station, this housing project offers an outstanding combination of urban housing and rural living.Three design elements create an eye-catching facade and shape the distinctive character of the building:1. In colour and scale, they hint at a neighbouring historic building, emphasizing visual connections with the project’s urban context.2. 'C-balconies' – C-shaped elements, cast in exposed concrete that hug the building. Their sidewalls provide visual cover and protection from the wind.3. A particular focus on the corner apartments – their balconies are f... More

Hazelhurst Court

Working within the constraints of a tight urban plot, this scheme comprises 60 extra care homes within two new buildings, alongside integrated communal space. Being mindful that older people spend more of their time inside, the design is centred on the concept of bringing the outside in and all homes are dual aspect to provide a visual connection to the courtyards and neighbouring streets. Similarly, a new garden room between the two courtyards provides a generous, light-filled communal space directly onto these external spaces, each of which has a different character to provide a range of physical and visual stimuli for residents. Assisted Living Centre Oosterheem

Since the Oosterheem care centre was no longer meeting the requirements of today, EGM architects designed a plan for the redevelopment of the nursing home and the adjoining properties. With the redevelopment of the new building an entirely new neighbourhood was created simultaneously. The grounds of the old nursing home slowly made way for a new assisted living centre. Three residential buildings and an underground parking garage are now under construction. The construction is phased out, requiring most residents to only move house once. The new assisted living centre offers sheltered apartments, care apartments, residential units and general facilities. The design, with four storeys and a bent shape, mimicks the direction and scale of the... More
