Vienna-based Josef Weichenberger Architects was founded by Josef Weichenberger in 2002, after he had worked as a project partner with Coop Himmelb(l)au in Vienna and Lyon from 1989 to 2002. He also teached at the University of Applied Arts and the Technical University in Vienna.
The office relies on an international team of 15 architects. A strong focus of JWA's work is on innovative housing and urban design projects, as well as Conversion-Projects with an emphasis on enhancement and intelligent rebuilding of Existing structures.
Prominent recent work includes the conversion of Franz Josefs Bahnhof in Vienna and Karl Schwanzers iconic Philips Haus.
