This site is located at northern area of Bandung, in a dense neighborhood area. It is an office for a japan imported koi farm. Occasionaly, this farm invites koi farmers from Japan and local customers to look around and doing transactions. The old office / shop is located next to the new site. However, its not quite big and adequate to handle its customers. The Agg Hab, or Aggregate Habitat, is a prototypal eco-dwelling formed by casting papier-mâché strips into sculpted holes in the ground. Measuring over twenty feet long, eight feet wide, and four-and-a-half feet tall, and constructed using nearly 200 liters of glue and 270 pounds of paper, the house stands unofficially as one the world’s largest, self-supporting, papier-mâché structures.   The process of construction started with the digging of two mirrored, convexo-concave holes, each four-and-a-half feet deep. CAUKIN Studio, a young design and build social enterprise, has worked alongside the Ranwas Village community and international participants from around the world, to build a school classroom, library and office space after Cyclone Pam caused devastation to the previous school buildings. After 8 weeks of construction, the finished building combines a heavy-duty cyclone resistant timber frame, woven bamboo cladding, polycarbonate and metal roofing sheets to create a strong, bright and well ventilated learning environment. In keeping with the client’s desire for a strictly Vastu compliant house, the placement of the spaces in the house are in synch with the plan of the VastuPurusha Mandala. Thus the biggest challenge while designing the house was to arrive at a visually appealing structure from a rigid program that dictated the specific locations of various spaces. The design of this residence aims at getting rid of the solemn and stereotyped impression of a traditional Vastu defined home, where the nine grids curb the free flowing creativity of design. Fangting bookstore, located in OCT Huanleli commercial street, Jinniu District, Chengdu, is a renovation and redesign project of the original OCT Art Center. Our project was to design the upper two floors of a building renovation in district 1, Ho Chi Minh City. The second floor hosts the client’s Airbnb business, while the third floor hosts their colleague’s company office. To celebrate their friendship, we vertically connected the two floors through the existing infrastructure, which then becomes the central organizing feature and allows natural light to permeate both spaces.   As we enter the second floor corridor, the building’s existing columns and beams rise through the ceiling, stretching open the glass floor section above and allowing sunlight to flow in. Built in 2015, the site houses an experience centre and an office space designed for Mobel Grace.   Designed to be an experience center rather than a typical showroom, the built form plays with the traditional courtyard typology. The space was designed to allow various interactions of light and volume while providing least obstructions for flexible displays to change, adapt and grow overtime.
