The Urbane Mexico restaurant is on a corner, between a main street and a secondary one. Local regulations require not to build in a five-meter strip on the front of the property. We used this space as parking and access. We occupied the remaining surface with the two-level restaurant. The ground floor dining area occupies a third of this level. As part of the Our Energy Our Landscape design challenge, a multidisciplinary team comprised of VenhoevenCS, DS landschapsarchitecten, and Studio Solarix developed a unique and innovative proposal that generates renewable energy while restoring natural connective routes for wildlife. The design for an ultra-light web over the motorway was created for the challenge location in the Netherlands, but it can easily be applied to other sites to become an important part of the sustainability of infrastructure and transport projects globally. The roof of a house is not only a durable protection against wind and weather. As part of the dream home, it also acts as an eye-catcher and rounds off the architectural design of the entire property. This is what the owners of this home thought, too, who took the opportunity to upgrade their house aesthetically and in terms of energy technology as part of a roof extension to gain living space. This family in Moss wanted to carry out energy-saving measures in their house. They reinsulated the roof and walls. As a crowning achievement, they installed SunStyle solar roof tiles on both the house and garage. The garage roofs have an east/west orientation, which provides good electricity production in the morning and afternoon.
