The owner of a contemporary art gallery and hair salon in Kyoto asked me to plan the interior of a new gallery and spa in Teramachi Nijo area. In a quiet area dotted with coffee shops and galleries and lined with many residences, one of the challenges was how to create an open space while maintaining a sense of connection with the local community. “ Stand out amidst the chaos with the simplicity of the material”  The concept of ensuring privacy through a brick wall is implemented using clay bricks as the primary material in the design. These bricks are chosen for their easy availability and are produced in large quantities in Thailand. They possess a distinct color, durability, and affordability and effectively convey the essence of Thai materials, which is crucial for the design of a spa in the Sukhumvit zone. The Wool Sauna building is the only sauna of its kind in Latvia and the latest addition to the Ziedlejas wellness resort. The stilted building sits on a hilltop at a distance from the resort's other saunas and overnight cabins but forms an intrinsic part of the experience. Guests access the Wool Sauna via a winding wooden walkway, which is more than a means to get from A to B. The design aims beyond the conventional resort and commits unique emphasis on the wellness of the human mind and body. The resort consists of organic lines with sweeping shingled-roofs in order to blend traditional design languages with modern ones. The spa/wellness complex is stilted over the ocean and consists of inset ovals that contain a central suspended space. The client is a young businessman and an open-minded man who after studying in-depth the subject of facial treatments, decided to open the flagship clinic in Monte Carlo in Monaco. First and foremost, he was looking for an architectural firm that specializes in luxury stores that would design the spaces of the new clinic that would become part of the concept of the following boutiques. Since Richmont Monaco's concept is to create a luxury club of treatments, the place had to convey cleanliness in the unique design of the clinics, warm and cosy design.
