Karanga Changing Sheds

Designed in partnership with Eke Panuku, these vibrant, temporary changing sheds anchor and enhance the experience of swimming and diving at Karanga Steps.  Built with a carbon positive commitment, they transform waste materials into something playful and inviting—an approach that defines our design ethos. Samuel Hartnett Samuel Hartnett Samuel Hartnett Clad in Vulcan timber shingles made from rejected or damaged offcuts, the structures embrace imperfection, giving discarded material new purpose. Inside, the walls and roof are formed from Cleanstone panels - an innovative local material composed of recycled fishing nets, plastic bags and packaging waste. Translucent and softly luminous, the panels bathe the inter... More

Red Threads

Designed for a textile designer and artist, Red Threads reimagines a traditional Grey Lynn villa as a home, studio and lively presence in its neighbourhood. It also marks a milestone for Pac Studio: our first carbon-positive house! Its corner site presents two public faces and a useful tension between creative openness and domestic privacy. Samuel Hartnett Samuel Hartnett Samuel Hartnett Samuel Hartnett Samuel Hartnett The original house was clarified by removing an awkward street-front addition, extending the verandah and resolving the roof into a stronger composition of gabled and hipped forms. At the rear, the new work steps down the sloping site, reconnecting rooms that once sat well above the garden. A split-... More

Sawtooth House

Designed by Francesco Pierazzi Architects, Sawtooth House transforms an ageing rear extension to a Victorian property in Kingston upon Thames, south-west London, into a more energy-efficient and adaptable family home. Rather than pursuing substantial additional floor area, the project adds only 15 square metres to the existing building while undertaking a broader retrofit of the original house. The resulting 180-square-metre residence demonstrates how targeted additions can be combined with improvements to the existing building fabric to reduce operational energy demand and extend the useful life of established housing. Peter Molloy The architecture also draws on Kingston’s industrial history: its distinctive double sawtooth roo... More

Itaca

The project Itaca consists of WASP’s initiative to develop a 3D-printed, self-sufficient farm and living model based on a circular micro-economy. The project aims to establish a new paradigm for sustainable construction that is easily replicable worldwide, thanks to the rapid transmission of information enabled by 3D printing technology and the use of Crane WASP, a versatile and accessible machine capable of operating even in remote areas.  WASP WASP One of the main goals behind Itaca’s construction was to create a 3D-printed building that meets the same standards as traditional structures, including earthquake resistance, in compliance with Italian and European regulations. Given Italy’s stringent regulato... More

The Watsaduniyom Thematic Pavilion

Designed for ASA Architect Expo ’69, the Watsaduniyom Thematic Pavilion, also known as the Tenth Light Pavilion, challenges a common assumption of exhibition architecture: that temporary structures are destined to become waste. Rather than treating the event as a singular moment of display, the project was conceived as a reversible system in which each component could be recovered, preserved, and returned to circulation after the exhibition. Rungkit Charoenwat Developed for the tenth anniversary of the Thai architectural materials brand Watsaduniyom, the pavilion was required not only to provide brand visibility but also to ensure that its construction materials remained reusable at the end of the event. This requirement became... More

The hidden echo

Located in the historic Kasbah-Mechouar district of Marrakech, Hidden Echo is a conceptual cultural project that interprets Moroccan architectural traditions through a contemporary environmental approach. Developed for the Riad Garden 51 site near Agdal Gardens and Bab Agnaou, the proposal combines passive climatic systems, rammed earth construction, water management strategies, and local craftsmanship within a spatial framework inspired by kasbahs, riads, and Moroccan gardens. Caption The project was conceived as a low-energy and climate-adaptive architectural proposal rather than a technology-driven building. Its environmental approach relies on thermal mass, evaporative cooling, natural ventilation, solar control, daylight optimiz... More

Renovation of Yu-Cheng Sheltered Workshop Campus

The Renovation of Yu-Cheng Sheltered Workshop Campus by JJP Architects & Planners transforms underutilised space beneath Taipei’s Jianguo Expressway into a more functional and inclusive workplace for people with intellectual disabilities. The existing facility faced several practical constraints, including inadequate space, poor drainage, limited natural light, and inefficient circulation. Chang-Chi Tsai The redevelopment reorganises the campus into three principal functions: a car wash centre, restaurant, and office zone. Noisy and quieter activities are separated, while clearer circulation improves accessibility and day-to-day operations for employees, visitors, and support staff. Chang-Chi Tsai ❌︎ Remove Appl... Biobased home by ORGA architects

Nestled in the Stameren forest near Maarn, this residence stands out for its natural and effortless connection to the surrounding landscape. Positioned at the transition between forest and heathland, each side of the house establishes a unique relationship with nature. The forest side feels intimate and sheltered, while the heathland side offers expansive views, abundant daylight, and a strong sense of openness. The design of ORGA architects makes use of natural, biobased materials, including the charred Douglas fir façade cladding “Naoshima”. Large glazed surfaces and carefully framed sightlines ensure a continuous connection with the outdoors, allowing the boundary between interior and landscape to gently fade. Capt... More
