A Pavilion for Peace

A Pavilion for Peace In recent times, with wars escalating worldwide, this pavilion aims to draw attention to Peace.Does this sound naive, simplistic, or even foolish? We fear that some may perceive it that way.   In this sense, this Pavilion aims to provoke through a theme that should not inherently be provocative. Indeed, we should never shy away from advocating for Peace. The Pavilion stands as a sanctuary for encounter and dialogue, fostering connections and understanding.   This idea is inspired by the project brief: Earthwork. Earth symbolizes life, yet it is often contested in conflicts since the dawn of humanity.   In contrast with this, the earth itself is designed to become the catalyst for new connections... The suspended platform is the architectural element that marks the entrance to the installation, an ephemeral threshold through which the visit begins. 21 Serpentine Pavilions that showcase over two decades of architectural experimentation

Since 2000, Serpentine has given the opportunity for internationally renowned and emerging architects to create their first built structure in England. Architects are asked to design a pavilion that is used as a meeting space and café by day and a forum for learning, debate and entertainment at night. Serpentine collaborates the same way with architects as they do with artists. They aim to realize their vision for a project as close to how they conceived it as possible. It has become one of those honors, like having an El Croquis or receiving a prestigious award, that puts an architect at the... More

sonoGROTTO

Tasked by Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and the San Francisco Planning Department to design new prototypes of spaces and activities on Market Street, to be displayed for three days during the Market Street Prototyping Festival, we created a space of respite on the busy sidewalk. sonoGROTTO is an experiment in using affordable, ubiquitous, and recyclable materials to create new, human-scaled spaces along the cavernous and over-scaled corridor of Market Street. It is composed of 235 cardboard tubes fastened together. The tubes were packed, trimmed to fit within a 10-foot cube, and carved to create seats, windows, and an oculus to view the sky above. Alexandra Palace - A Mobile Italian Garden

A Mobile Italian Garden transforms the terrace at Alexandra Palace into a welcoming area with exceptional views over the city. Drawing inspiration from the architecture of the palace, the proposal breaks the monumental proportions of the main building to meet visitors with a more intimate scale on their first encounter with Alexandra Palace. The theatricality of the terraced view is accentuated by the enclosed viewing amphitheater to contemplate the surrounding landscape: bringing to stage the gardens and the city of London in the background. Besides ‘theatricalizing” the views, the design organises the area of the terrace into a landscape of scattered objects that can be rearranged geometrically resembling the formal garden, between... Pavilion for the Culture Fair 2014

The Pavilion that represents Mexico City on the Culture Fair 2014, addresses the migrations that have influenced the development of Mexico City. The architectonical expression of these migration flows is represented through a large boardwalk that brings visitors up to a balcony overlooking the main square (Zocalo) and that comes down again to stage a symbolical arrival to the center of the city. This game of straight and curved ramps, balconies and walkways, wraps around an equilateral triangle that houses a small exhibition curated by Alberto Odériz. As a reference to the ships that brought the first migrants to Mexico, the whole pavilion is made out of wood. The column-less interior space is covered by a large roof composed out of sm... More
