Located in a historic lakeside village in Berlin, this Wooden House designed by Transstruktura occupies a waterfront plot defined by mature trees and expansive views. Conceived as a compact cubic volume, the house presents a restrained architectural language that balances visual clarity with environmental responsiveness. The former farmhouse from the 17th century is located on the edge of the village centre of Zunzgen at a fork in the road. The building is characterised by the customary local division into separate residential and farm parts, which can still be clearly seen today. Smokehouse is a communal dining pavilion nestled within a shaded grove, conceived as an open-air shelter for meals, gatherings, and community meetings. Adjacent to an outdoor kitchen, the structure offers protection from the elements while remaining open and connected to its surroundings. Designed and built as a community project, the pavilion employs modest materials and simple construction methods.
