Offroadhouse is our place to slow down, reconnect with nature, and return to ourselves. It allows us to contemplate the landscape and the changing seasons through everyday activities, transforming ordinary moments into rituals. The project was created from a used shipping container purchased from a storage yard for decommissioned containers no longer fit to sail across the seas and oceans of the world. Recycling and reusing an existing structure naturally aligned with the broader principles of the project. The house was designed for a couple seeking a weekend get-away in the woods to balance their busy everyday lives in the Czech capital. The site is located near Žloukovice village in a protected landscape area Křivoklátsko. Decades ago, a community of „tramps“, young people influenced by E. T. Seton’s woodcraft movement, used to build small cabins in the local woods. A row of such cabins formed a small settlement  the middle of a large forest near Žloukovice . Casa Velia’s design comes from the requirement of having a built footprint no bigger than 60 sqm. Through a simple geometry, each area is amplified in the best possible way, with two levels contained under a roof that brings different scales both into each space and to the façades.  Luis Gallardo / LGM Studio Two brick walls contain the program inside: living and dining room, kitchen, three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a terrace.  The main façade is covered by hardwood planks and its openings are revealed as the house comes to life. A container house made to promote local wood larch in the Saku area of Nagano  Prefecture, Japan. It has a floor area of 9.9M2 and a size of about 2.3x5m. It can be moved by a 4t truck by putting an iron pipe under the steel base. Although Shinshu larch is a beautiful red color and relatively strong among conifers, it has not been used as a building material so far because of its large warpage and twist, but due to the progress of drying technology, the concern has been resolved. It is expected to be used for various purposes.
