Hotel Schani City

Located at Große Schiffgasse 8, in the heart of Vienna’s Leopoldstadt and just around the corner from popular Karmelitermarkt, the new Schani City is an urban hotel with 127 comfortable rooms. Respect, attention, and openness — these are the guiding principles that the design seeks to embody, particularly within this historically and culturally diverse setting. They create a framework that fosters social interaction while equally allowing for moments of retreat and privacy — in the heart of one of Vienna’s most diverse neighborhoods. The hotel opens up a space for encounters and offers a natural invitation to intercultural exchange — no loud statement, but rather a quiet dialogue with its surroundings.... More

Railway Station Wampersdorf

The station is an important stop along the Pottendorfer rail line which connects Vienna´s city center to its suburban peripheries. Andreas Buchberger Andreas Buchberger Andreas Buchberger Wampersdorf is a multimodal Highline Station where Rail, bus, pedestrian and bicycle traffic were intertwined in an inviting structure to create space for a new culture of switching to public transport and active mobility. Accessibility for all, short distances between bus and train, two new lifts, weather-protected platforms, a bright underpass and tactile guidance systems are some of the main features. As a busy cycle route crosses the tracks, it was integrated into the station underpass, with care being taken to ensure that th... B.R.I.O. – Alles auf Schiene!

At construction site D12 in the “Neues Landgut” urban development area near the main train station in Vienna, we collaborated with our colleagues from Dietrich Untertrifaller Architekten (DTFLR) to create the resident-friendly, recyclable, inclusive, and welcoming residential project — B.R.I.O. We owe this innovative concept to the excellent collaboration with DTFLR, Simma Zimmermann Landscape Architecture, the agency for culture and urbanity art:phalanx, the team at RWT plus ZT GmbH, and our client, ÖSW. Volksschule Molitorgasse

The Molitorgasse Elementary School combines a renovation in accordance with historic preservation guidelines with the sustainable redevelopment of the existing school site, transforming the existing building into a future-proof learning and living space. By reusing the existing building structure, resources are conserved and embodied energy is preserved. An extension, new open spaces, and targeted measures to reduce impervious surfaces create a climate-resilient, child-friendly environment with a high quality of life and long-term social value. The central design concept is the opening up of the rear of the building: stacked outdoor classrooms expand the school with versatile outdoor spaces and promote learning, physical activity, and time... Vienna City_

On Gatterburggasse, a quiet street in Vienna, this apartment occupies a nineteenth-century building with the understated grandeur typical of the city’s historic architecture. Yet following renovation, many of the residences inside had become largely interchangeable: white walls, neutral finishes and little to distinguish one interior from the next. The brief here was not simply to furnish the space, but to restore a sense of identity. Every interior begins with the person who lives there. Before furniture, colour or decoration, there are habits, memories, rituals and the private details that shape daily life. This apartment became a reflection of its owner: a home designed less as a composition and more as a portrait. The client, a... More

AQ1 Althan Quartier Francis

Located at Vienna’s Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof, AQ1 Althan Quartier Francis transforms a late twentieth-century railway station into a contemporary mixed-use urban district while retaining the architectural value and embodied carbon of the existing structure. The project by Delugan Meissl Associated Architects and Josef Weichenberger Architekten demonstrates how large-scale regeneration can prioritise adaptive reuse over demolition, balancing environmental responsibility with changing urban requirements. Rather than replacing the station complex, the intervention builds upon its structural logic, creating a more permeable and publicly accessible neighbourhood centre. Gebhard Sengmüller   Adaptive reuse as a sustainabi... More

Hirschfeld BF III - Naturnah wohnen

Residential development and kindergarten [Vienna, W]   The master plan—developed by our colleagues at Shibukawa Eder Architects—forms the overarching framework for the Hirschfeld area. Based on the zoning plan, the property on Gerasdorfer Straße is divided into four building plots. These, in turn, are clearly zoned into two areas with different requirements – the noisier southern zone on the busy road and the quieter northern zone, adjacent to the forest area along Sowinetzgasse. Our building plot is located on Gerasdorferstraße and comprises two typologies developed in the master plan: two terraced houses that step down towards Gerasdorferstraße to respond to the buildings opposite, and a point bl... Pier 22

A diverse and high-quality public space for ViennaOn June 20th, the first of three construction phases of the new Pier 22 was officially opened. The first part is spatially and functionally divided into three different areas: the waterfront promenade, the Park-Working area and (in the future) the Cultural Kiosk. Pier 22's program focuses on a new quality of public space: inclusive architecture and a democratization of luxury through free services, robust yet high-quality materials and a variety of programs. With good subway connections, Pier 22 is a meeting point for the entire city.  Felix Redmann / Mostlikely Architecture Felix Redmann / Mostlikely Architecture Mostlikely Architecture / Felix Redmann A waterfront prom... o.m.k Deli

Tokyo, a city of many faces and contrasts: traditional and modern elements coexist, just as strict discipline progressive extravagance. Located on one of Vienna’s oldest market squares in the premises of a former laundry service, the new o.m.k 1010 does not only offer Japanese culinary treats but also a glimpse of the country’s diverse and contemporary capital itself. Caption Inspired by the hustle and bustle of the vibrant metropolis, the interior design by BÜRO KLK refers to the idea of a flow of people pushing through narrow streets – flanked by neon signs advertising all kinds of goods. The concept for o.m.k. 1010 has been translated into an object-like spatial design that comprises both Dine-In and Take-Out... More

Mraz & Sohn

„Très chic, very raw and pure, a little punk yet cosy“  is how one of Austria’s most-read newspapers recently described the result of the renovation process that took place at Mraz & Sohn. The renowned Viennese fine dining restaurant, celebrated for its unconventional approach to haute cuisine, has received an interior update by BÜRO KLK. David Schreyer   “Family restaurant with no borders” is the self-proclaimed company slogan, and by all means – they mean it. Kitchen, service and atmosphere is out of the ordinary. Located in an unpretentious corner building in Vienna Brigittenau, guests have to ring the bell before entering, just like when visiting friends for dinner. On... More

Village im Dritten – Eurogate Vienna

Urban context Village im Dritten (Village in the third district) is a newly developed quarter between Landstraßer Gürtel and Otto-Preminger-Straße in the north-east, with a park for everyone in the middle. The Gürtelbogen, a two-storey commercial building, shields the residential complex behind it from the heavily frequented Gürtel. The guiding idea of “climate-resilient district development” focuses on parks, façade greening, roof gardens and percolating pavements, but also on social sustainability. Site 7, which was developed by Dietrich | Untertrifaller together with Artec, is located in the middle of the Quartierstrasse, exactly opposite the passage to the Gürtel. Our project owes its... DC3 Tower

The tower in Vienna’s Donauplatte area complements the towers DC 1 and DC 2 by Dominique Perrault and offers 832 apartments for temporary living. The 100-meter-high building is connected on several levels to the existing Donaucity quarter as well as to the transport network via public plazas and paths. The projections of the three-dimensionally warped façade elements correspond to cozy alcoves, which frame the view of the Danube and the city in every room. Dietrich Untertrifaller Urban Context The narrow property – hardly more than a traffic island, surrounded by Wagramerstraße, motorway access and underground line – presented us with great planning challenges. But the attractive location on the Danube... More

Café Bellaria

Prominently situated, between Museumsquartier, Volkstheater and Ringstraße, Vienna’s Café Bellaria has been considered a meeting point for coffee lovers, gourmands and bon vivants since 1870. David Schreyer The renovation of the Wilhelminian style venue by BURO KLK preserves the historical architecture, creating an authentic relationshipbetween traditional and contemporary elements. Starting with the open floor plan, the venue is conceptualized as a vast space for encounters based on the tradition of Viennese coffeehouses infused with modern elements. DU Office Flachgasse – Apartments

The former factory of metal objects Grünwald, built in 1907, was first transformed into a designer furniture store by Matthäus Jiszda in 1981. The building was once again restructured to house the offices of the Viennese branch of Dietrich | Untertrifaller. It has also been enhanced by two floors to offer a penthouse and two spacious apartments. Bruno Klomfar Bruno Klomfar The alignment recess is due to the load distribution of the cross-laminated beam-to-wall structure. The plan of the apartments adapts to these structural constraints and takes advantage of them: the supports on the central supporting wall and on the existing dividing walls allow clearing free levels as well as large windows on all the west facade of t...
