Vilnius

Drawing on the company’s previous experience in the Baltic region, Lavazza was keen to increase its commercial presence in Lithuania, a country in rapid economic expansion. Young, unconventional and economically vibrant, Vilnius was therefore the ideal city. The proposed location was unfortunately too small for the typical floorplan of a Lavazza Training Center. So, Lavazza and studio Isidoro Mastronardi Architetto faced this challenge head on by deconstructing the standard layout into smaller sections, trying to accommodate all necessary facilities: reception, training areas, skill-development with equipment and behind the bar counter, tasting area and showroom. Competition proposal of the Vilnius National Concert Hall.In the radial volume, compactly located large and small concert halls, with 1,500 and 500 seats, respectively.Both halls are located cantilever, making room for spacious lobbies, foyers, dressing rooms and lobby.The main volume of the building relies on pylons located in a circle of the building, thus freeing the observation deck, open for constant viewing.On the roof there is a restaurant and an observation deck. It is supposed to place solar panels on the roof.This proposal, for reasons unknown to me, was not considered by the jury, and for de facto did not participate in the competition. More

Project is located in the central area of Vilnius, by the river Neris. On the opposite side of the river, in the heart of the old town, stands the symbol of medieval history of Lithuania – Gediminas tower.Housing development consists of seven buildings connected by two storey underground parking. Due to natural inclination of the landscape three of the buildings are set onto the upper terrace and the remaining four on the lower terrace.The front line of the existing adjacent residential development is extended into the site and is further bent to create an inner promenade with vistas towards the other side of the river.  “Paloma” bistro is located in Vilnius multi functional commercial zone, now buzzing with people - city within city. The design is based on a limited range of materials: wood, leather, terrazzo, and steel make up the majority of materials used for the design. Table tops, bar and most of the floor area are made from the light color terrazzo. The minimalist aesthetic eliminates unnecessary elements to limit distraction from enjoying the meal and conversation. It feels light, airy and spacious. Seating area can vary from space for dinner for two, to the community table with larger company of people. GOALS: To integrate into the current and still growing urban structure of the right bank of Neris river in Vilnius by the use of architectural solutions. To get closer to the river by discreet and moderate means. To form a chamber environment by the spatial structure and height. To create an object that would attract tourists. To preserve valuable sprouts. CONCEPT: A frame, which interprets the painting, in the long run would become active, recognizable and prominent symbol in the city.
