Woodfac Panel

WOODFAC Panel is a closed façade system that wraps your building in real wood while quietly handling the hard work behind the scenes. Wooden lamellae sit on a structure of 100% recycled Greenline® aluminium, forming a breathable climate screen that protects the building without trapping moisture — the look of a timber façade, with the performance of a modern rainscreen. Every lamella is FSC®- or PEFC™-certified and fire-impregnated with a Cradle to Cradle–certified, natural flame retardant, reaching fire classifications up to B-s1,d0 (EN 14915 / EN 16755). The wood is thermally treated for dimensional stability, so the façade stays true year after year — with no painting or treatment req... More

A clear, light volume appears to float above the ground floor, while the dark timber façade beneath anchors the building within its green surroundings. The combination of clean lines, deep overhangs and vertical façade rhythm gives the residence a distinct, almost sculptural presence. Caption For the façade, Shodoshima by Zwarthout | Shou Sugi Ban was selected: charred and brushed Douglas fir with a deep black appearance and a rich, tactile surface. The controlled charring process gives the wood its characteristic texture, while brushing reveals the natural grain of the timber. The result is a façade that is neither... More

Black Gemstone

Set in the wooded surroundings of Hollandsche Rading in the Dutch province of Utrecht, Black Gemstone was designed by MONK Architecten BNA as a dark, folded volume among the trees. The facades and roof planes flow visually into one another, giving the house the character of a black gemstone. Behind this form is a sustainability strategy centered on extensive timber construction, reduced energy demand, renewable energy generation, and durable materials that can be maintained selectively. Peter Cuypers Sustainability is integrated into the design rather than treated as a separate technical addition. The structure, building envelope, interior, and building services were approached as a single system, with each layer contributing to redu... More
