Knight Architects is a specialist architectural practice providing an international bridge design consultancy, originally based on the unique experience, skills and passion for bridge design which Martin Knight has built up over more than 18 years in leading architecture and engineering practice.

The practice now employs a team of experienced designers responsible for several bridges and other highway and infrastructure projects built in the UK, Europe and further afield. The company is active in Europe, North America, the Middle East, Australasia and the Far East as well as in the United Kingdom and it has won a number of high-profile international design competitions including the €95m Kruunusillat Bridge in Helsinki, Finland; the 380m-long Margaretengürtel timber footbridge in Vienna, Austria; and a landmark lifting footbridge at Paddington Basin, London UK.

The practice is fortunate to work with the world’s leading engineers to achieve bespoke solutions, often in high-profile or sensitive locations, to create simple, beautiful and contextual designs which blend architectural sensitivity with engineering efficiency. By generating the design concept in a collaborative process with the structural engineer a project can truly benefit from the naturally suited skills of these closely related design disciplines. Beautiful, efficient bridge design should satisfy both artistic and scientific analysis to be visually legible and structurally truthful. Resolving the relationship between the two is the key to every project.
