ModCraft was started by Industrial Designer David Clark in his Williamsburg, Brooklyn apartment. As interest in his stoneware tile and lighting business grew, he relocated the handmade tile operation to a barn studio he built in Hudson Valley’s Beacon, New York. There he and his wife Mary St. John design and hand make their products in a larger volume. ModCraft produces sophisticated handmade modern wall tile using high-fire porcelain clay. Light plays across the tile’s glazes and modular surface patterns to create a dynamic visual effect. The result is elegant and durable porcelain tile with a contemporary and modern feel. The dimensionality of the tile creates a unique wall surface expression in such areas as feature walls, kitchen back splashes, bathroom shower and bath tile, fireplace surrounds, and all over wall tile. In temperate climates ModCraft tile is used outdoors in pool design as well as an element of landscape architecture. ModCraft’s ever expanding line of dimensional wall tile offer stunning applications for residential as well as retail and hospitality applications.
