Nicholas Hare Architects
Over 30 years Nicholas Hare Architects LLP have built a balanced portfolio of projects. Our work includes buildings for the arts, education, medicine, research and different kinds of workplaces. This balance is important to us as it both enables us to widen our experience and ensure a fresh approach to all design challenges. Our projects often embrace project management, urban design and masterplanning as well as architectural design as we aim to provide a comprehensive service that ensures all of our client’s aims are realised - including programme and cost targets.
We enjoy working collaboratively generating ideas that are inspired by the unique context of the site and our client’s aspirations that we analyse and evaluate together. The emerging designs are always fresh, responsive and thoroughly interrogated. It also means that our projects are quite different although guided by some consistent values and principles. Chief amongst these is responsibility towards the environment which extends from helping to create sustainable communities to challenging targets for carbon reduction. We like to create buildings and spaces that are enjoyable and delightful to use and a sustainable approach with its focus on natural light and the careful selection of materials is fundamental to this aim.
We are committed to collaboration in our work with other consultants and constructors too as we believe teamwork and the development of fully integrated designs are the key to the successful delivery of projects. In our own office, dedicated teams are formed for each project but ideas shared across the studio informally and through a regular programme of peer reviews and design debates which enhances awareness of new technologies and encourages innovation.
Our work has received wide recognition through a variety of awards and publications. Some of these celebrate our efficient delivery of projects as well as the quality of design. A selection of awards include:
