Our founding directors were project Architects on a number of RIBA award winning schemes and on the strength of these achievements established Studio 30. We work at any scale of project, including contemporary residential refurbishments and extensions, new-builds, conversions, ecclesiastical and larger scale commercial and key worker housing schemes. We have extensive experience of working with a full range of consultants and within the planning constraints of listed buildings in conservation areas. OUR SERVICES We adhere to the structure of the RIBA stages of work, providing a full architectural service which can be commissioned in full or in part, including: INITIAL CONSULTATION AND DESIGN Our initial discussions will establish your ambitions, aesthetics and priorities, including practical implications such as planning restrictions and costs. We will work closely with you to develop your ideas and aspirations and make the designs fully accessible to you through 3D computer models which allow spatial exploration of the interiors as well as materials. Design is inherently an iterative and collaborative process, so whilst we bring our experience and talent we encourage client input as much as possible. PLANNING PERMISSION AND APPROVALS Studio 30 have extensive experience of working in Conservation Areas, with Listed Buildings and in implementing modern design in these potentially sensitive locations. For very difficult and contentious projects we work regularly with planning consultants. Not all projects require planning permission and clever design coupled with knowledge of the planning legislation can save time and money. We can advise not only on what design best suits your needs, but also the likely planning implications so you can best judge the way forward. BUILDING CONTROL APPROVAL Most projects will be subject to assessment under Building Regulations which can be carried out by the local authority or by an approved building inspector. We generally believe that the latter provides a faster and more collaborative approach and can often be cheaper. We will develop the initial scheme to comply with building regulations and take on all liaisons with the assessing body to ensure compliance. All implications are openly discussed with you in advance so that you are able to direct any changes to the design. TENDER DOCUMENTATION Studio 30 will prepare detailed drawings and documents for pricing by a contractor. We believe this is one of the most important stages of any project. We will also advise on the best form of procurement and contract. Detailed, accurate and legible documentation can greatly reduce uncertainty in pricing and thus unexpected costs during construction. Our experience in the construction industry ensures that we deliver your project on budget, built to last, as well as fulfilling your aesthetic needs. There are alternatives to tendering which have time and cost advantages and we can advise you on these if appropriate. COST PLANNING Throughout the project Studio 30 will provide a cost planning service. A cost plan can become more detailed as the scheme is developed and serve as a useful decision-making guide. Our cost planning expertise comes from years of experience in construction and a strong knowledge base of subcontractors and suppliers. CONSTRUCTION AND ON-SITE CONTRACT ADMINISTRATION Studio 30 will administer the contract during construction to ensure that the designs are properly translated into the final building. There are always unexpected events during construction and knowing how to deal with these personably as well as contractually is key to a safe, enjoyable and successful project. CONSULTANTS Throughout the project you may require the input of other consultants such as structural engineers, mechanical engineers, energy consultants and planning consultants.
