The Hagemeister clinker factory defines itself through its passion for clinker products and their uses in architecture. The use of clinker bricks as a construction material has in the past, and continues to shape the look and character of entire regions. The full color spectrum is offered by Hagemeister clinker bricks; from the sandy white-yellow of Danish clinker bricks and the almost black-red of British clinker to the light red of Baltic gothic clinker architecture and the dark red-blue iridescent clinkers traditionally seen on Friesian houses.
Sustainability
This term combines aesthetic, economic, ecological and social factors. As well as the traditional clinker qualities such as lasting value, durability, zero maintenance and color fastness, today’s clinkers now also offer contemporary shapes, individual colors, distinct feel, advanced production techniques and an important partnership between builder, architect and manufacturer.
The use of clinker bricks is therefore ideal for those looking for quality of life and security, health and wellbeing, environmental friendliness and ultimately, economy and aesthetics in their building.
Capacity
The production capacity of the Hagemeister kilns is sufficient to build a town with 10,000 single-family houses per year. State-of-the-art production plants and optimized firing processes enable a volume of approximately 100 million clinkers annually.
Hagemeister’s ability to supply very large quantities of bricks from a single firing makes the company a competent partner in the realization of large projects both in Germany and on an international scale.
Innovation
Active market-oriented research and development as well as close cooperation with planners is the basis of Hagemeister’s wide range of attractive solutions. More than 300 clinker brick colors, formats and textures for facades as well as an extensive range of paving bricks are available for the realization of attractive paving ideas. Hagemeister is also happy to meet individual architectural requirements in projects and will develop customized clinker solutions in cooperation with the project partners.
Technical characteristics
Hagemeister clinker bricks are renowned for their exceptional technical characteristics, including high compressive strength and low water absorption rates. Crafted through a meticulous firing process at temperatures exceeding 1200°C, these bricks exhibit remarkable durability and resistance to weathering, frost, and chemical degradation. Their dense composition and precise dimensions ensure uniformity and structural integrity in diverse applications, from facades to pavements. With a wide range of colors, textures, and finishes available, Hagemeister clinker bricks offer architects and builders versatility and creative freedom while maintaining unparalleled technical performance and longevity.

Continuity and quality
Hagemeister clinker brick factory has been producing facing and paving bricks for over one hundred years. The classic circular kiln dating back to the factory’s foundation has long since made way for state-of-the-art computer-operated kiln technology. Through this technology, our capacity and quality has lept to meet modern demand, though our age-old formulas and the expertise of the earlier kiln masters continue to underpin clinker production at Hagemeister and inspire the company’s values.
Five generations have guided the company to where it stands now as one of the leading clinker brick specialists in Germany and neighboring European countries.
The Hagemeister clinker brick factory owes its renowned high quality and its special character to the experience gained by generations of kiln masters combined with advanced computer-controlled production techniques. The careful selection and combination of raw materials, high firing temperatures of up to 1,250° C as well as long-standing expertise underpin the superior quality of our clinker bricks, guaranteeing natural purity, optimal processing and bricklaying characteristics as well as excellent brickwork properties.
The entire process is continually certified in accordance with the DIN EN ISO 9001 quality management system.

Nursing Home “Haus Heiliggeist”
A non-restorable nursing home in Freiburg, Germany was replaced by a compact new building designed by Drei Architekten. On four floors it houses five care groups, including 71 nursing rooms and eight age-appropriate apartments. The building is composed of two volumes, which are positioned offset to each other. Living areas, used by two of the care-groups are located at their intersection. The external appearance of the building is dominated by a light brick facade. The masonry work creates a pedestal which mirrors its built architectural context. Depending on the way the sun hits the brick, the facade can appear in various shades which gives the building its very own character and identity.
H10 Berlin, the four-star hotel on Joachimstaler Straße off the famous Kurfürstendamm, is a successful example of the integration of modern craftsmanship reconciled with a historical architectural ensemble. An eight-story cube by Kleihues + Kleihues was added to the listed school building from 1889 by architect Jan Kleihues. With its clean horizontal and vertical lines, the starkly modern structure of the new wing references the historical masonry of the front building in tone and texture by using Hagemeister’s Nevada clinker range, which references the existing masonry in tone and form. By offsetting the clinker bricks at different depths, the base of the new wing picks up the look and feel of the old masonry.
The so-called ‘Perlenkette’ (string of pearls) designed by KCAP was developed as a series of massive buildings with open areas along the River Elbe overlooking the Holzhafen (‘Timber Docks’) as part of Hamburg’s waterfront development. Within this series, at 'Holzhafen', an ensemble of three buildings present a similar outline plan. The counterparting East and West office buildings are monumental, deep buildings with inner courts and openings that ensure continued contact between the River Elbe and the city. Between them, the ‘Kristall’ residential tower will soar above its surroundings like a jewel of cut crystal. The East office building has been realised as the first of the three during the initial phase of construction in Holzhafen. Seen from the water it looks domineeringly unambiguous and large-scale, from the street side it has a smaller scale and a more differentiated character. The combination of light orange, turf stone brick with transparent sections of steel and glass alludes to the old warehouses in the port area.
