Located in a mature neighborhood in South Jakarta, the value of the design outcome is evident in the sustainable nature of the building's passive design strategy and its effort to minimize water and energy consumption with alternative sources, resilient to flood, while allowing a gentle coexistence between the external and internal.
A house that was designed to implement sustainability concept, from rainwater harvesting, using solar energy, recycling grey-water, and designed with passive design strategies in mind.
Responding to the site and views, the house design was conceptualized as two separate zones positioned along the north-facing site, connected with a void acting as a multifunction private terrace that brings a sense of openness when approaching the bedroom.
The front zone serves as a public zone where the first floor is an entrance foyer, living-dining-kitchen space on the second story, and the third floor is a void and a barbecue open terrace.
We play with the natural lights and shadows through various kinds of openings, especially on the east side.
The interior reflects the warmth of the wood panels and terrazzo flooring, serving as a background for the loose furniture from the client's previous house, creating connections between the past, present, and future moment in the house.
