The architectural exceptional project "Wäschereiquartier" is located in the trendiest district of the Documenta city of Kassel. This district  is characterized by the almost exclusively preserved historical buildings of Art Nouveau houses and villas in Kassel. Countless cafés, bars, and restaurants are situated here, and everything for daily needs is within walking distance. It is rightly considered the most popular district in Kassel.

The old laundry facility from 1900 is hidden away in a picturesque courtyard not far from Bebelplatz. Old fruit trees and wildflowers transform the quarter into an oasis in the city. A total of 30 residential units are being created, ranging from 35 to 320 square meters of living space.

The new building on Dörnbergstraße serves as the entrance to the "Wäschereiquartier." The façade made of Corten steel and the interior of exposed concrete define the character of the units and conceptually reference the old industrial charm.

The extension on the old factory building in the courtyard uniquely connects historical elements with modern architecture. The industrial charm of the existing building is transferred to the extension, accentuated by visible steel beams and vertical window bands that extend into the roof. A special highlight is the visible historical chimney in the living area, which adds a unique atmosphere to the space. The rooftop terrace, located in the courtyard and offering a view of the green roof planting, becomes a place of tranquility and relaxation.

The careful handling of the historical building substance ensures a successful connection between the past and the present.
