Apto builds and finances in the newly made neighborhood Baaibuurt Oost. We launch life and connection through social and nature inclusiveness; around hospitality there is space for startups, work and study spaces, education and social facilities where immigrants become baristas, students teach and families cook and eat healthy food.
How do we make this blank spot into an Amsterdam neighbourhood with soul? Free haveb Kokomo can make Baaibuurt into a home and a destination. Not only for people from diverse backgrounds, but also for flora and fauna of indigenous species. Social and nature inclusiveness go hand in hand. Sustainability also means engaging people. We work hard at growing interaction and initiatives from the neighbourhood. Bird houses and bat shelters were made by the neighbourhood on Architecture Day. The Amsterdam foundation for welfare Dynamo is social partner.
Three circular built pavilions in an idyllic nature-inclusive landscape connect and activate. Central spot is the restaurant, where local and seasonal ingredients are cooked, for and with the neighborhood. There is room for innovation, education and initiatives from the local community. Different generations, cultures and backgrounds discover new flavours and ideas together.
The transition to circular building is necessary. With this circular restaurant Apto sets a new standard for hospitality. We see that this industry is lagging behind. So we are taking a step ourselves to show that it is possible. We don't believe in just being architects. That's why we develop and invest in pioneering places ourselves. Change is only possible by action.
