ECLECTIC POP PENTHOUSE
With the intention to project passion in fashion and outgoing personality of the owners into their home, we blended playfulness with extravagance in the design of this 185 sqm penthouse. Inspired by Wes Anderson’s film, we mixed Mid-Century Modern style with Art Deco furnitures and matched them with the muted colour palette theme in order to create the Eclectic look that can reflect the identity of this space through details.
From our first design concept, we set the mood and tone with classical theme while adding some accent color regarding to the original image that client sent as reference. Since the client mentioned how she preferred Wes Anderson’s style of color palette, we took that inspiration to decorate the area using different color schemes allowing us to design each room under different character.
The choices of palettes were considered from the connection of each space, especially for common area.
THE COMMON AREA
From the client’s color preference of red and blue marble to create dramatical effect in Wes Anderson’s style. We have explored several options of color matching. Since the living room and the kitchen is linked together, we selected the color that made these two spaces compliment each other: red marble for kitchen top, black splash and copper for kitchen cabinet with the blend of deep green that unite the kitchen with the TV wall. For the main focal point, the dining table, we selected the blue marble top to match with the pale pink velvet chair and splash the wink with copper chandelier in the center. Contrasting with the high density on the kitchen side, we kept the other side lighter to make sure the spotlight is on the panoramic view. We balanced the overall scheme by putting white classic wall next to the TV wall with lifestyle shelf on the other side.
We have designed the impression when walking in to common area with layers and linkages of colors from area to area with copper accent . For the overall look, we wanted to insert the mid century modern style into the design by adding copper arch on every transition zone with chamber edging on the ceiling corners. We also added the exotic luxury texture with velvet and suede fabric on loose furniture.
