For the press section of the UNESCO building in Paris designed Gerrit Rietveld 1958 Press Room Chair . Thought was to design a comfortable lounge chair for journalists. However, since only a small budget was left for the device, the design was not realized at the time, in 2015, the rotating chair of Rietveld original and Spectrum was based on the drawings hung up. Markanto we like to show the Rietveld chair in the basic version with canvas cover, other materials and leather on request)


Gerrit Rietveld was born in 1888 in the Netherlands. First, he learned the trade of cabinet maker in his father's workshop. Then he took courses in architectural drawing and opened in 1911 his own cabinet making and 1919, he settled as an independent architect in Utrecht. During this time he became acquainted with the artist group De Stijl, which he joined in 1919. Gerrit Rietveld became known with his red-blue chair and the Rietveld Schröder House in Utrecht.
