A COLOURFUL NEOCLASSICAL UPDATE

The owner of the apartment fell in love with the location, next to Barcelona’s luxury shopping mile, Passeig de Gràcia, and with the privileged views over the city and onto la Pedrera amongst other landmark buildings of Barcelona.
However, as with many places, the space was in a rather sad state and needed a thorough refurbishment.

We took this as an opportunity to rearrange the distribution, uniting the front rooms into one sun filled living room, attaching the kitchen to it, now connected by glass doors.

With roots in France and Djibuti, the owner asked to reflect both origins in the design. We decided to go for a French influenced selection of furniture, and colourful combinations, paying tribute to the rich shades of colours found in African art. Leaving the spaces in white and black as a canvas, we then applied blue, green, and orange in blocks.

The end result is a timeless, minimalistic but colourful update of a neoclassical interior.
