On a narrow site in the Quartier Latin of Paris, the new Cultural Center of Morocco is composed of an accretion of volumes in an architecture that is composed as much by it voids as by its solids. The project experiments with the perception of space as it compresses and dilates through the site, simultaneously evoking the medieval streets of Paris and those of the medina of Fez. The public amenities located on the ground floor create a porosity which invites the public into and through the site.

The façade is a marquetry of glass composed of variations on a single module, with shifting degrees of opacity and inclination. Thus, the different programs (the cultural center occupies the lower half of the building and offices are located in the upper half) share a common architectural identity.
