The project consists of a transformation from an empty, raw space into an eye clinic. The challenge was to exploit the restrictions resulting both from the local regulations and the potential of the existing space. The strategy is the result of a close cooperation with the client, a young, enthusiastic doctor who is required to work in a fresh and innovative environment.
Three main areas mark the space: the entrance hall connected with the waiting room, the front desk and the examination rooms. Fresh and friendly are the main characteristics of the welcome area, a place where privacy is ensured by playful elements. The core of the project is the front desk, which is linked with the entrance through a glazed filter, allowing the receptionist to be in control of both patients and medical staff. Starting from this point, a dynamic light leads to several exam rooms, each of which is defined by different colours.
In terms of material, the white aims to convey feelings of calm atmosphere and clean surfaces, essential elements for an healthcare program. This atmosphere is interrupted by the attractive design of the front desk, which consists of 74 elegant wooden sluts. Behind some of them are hidden the archive door and cupboards. A specific study has been done for the light; the artificial one is based on the type of activity and medical devices used in each room, and the natural one is shaded by the blackout curtains system checked by remote control. Sound speakers, heating, security cameras and LED lights are integrated into the ceiling and walls, providing a smooth atmosphere and a comfortable feeling.
Attention to details, class and a drive towards beauty are the elements that make the eye clinic an unforgettable moment for the users. The full organization of the project aims to facilitate the relationship between public and private spaces.
